Hadn't gone there in years, but someone told me there was a new administration so I figured I'd go check out what's changed. Used to be the menu was diverse and full of Greek dishes you couldn't find anywhere else, but the new menu is just your generic, non-Greek, everyday dishes like spaghetti, Caesar salad, fish & chips, steak, etc... and quite a bit more expensive than it used to be, too! Already disappointed, I sat down and ordered fish & chips.
The storebought fish tasted purely of grease, the tartar sauce (not storebought, but prolly woulda been better) was just very diluted mayo with a sprinkle of lemon juice, the fries were storebought and super salty, and the storebought salad was absolutely drenched in overly fat yet somehow bland dressing. As for the dessert, I ordered the "homemade" baklava, and what I got was an obviously old and frozen mound of chewy philli dough drowned in corn syrup; there were literally no nuts... in a baklava! And it tasted burnt, somehow. Heck, even the water tasted weird, as if it was bottled or something.
Plus, the whole time the waitress would just run off and ignore us whenever we tried to put a request... I miss the old management; I get the feeling the new manager is a cheapskate who's never eaten Greek food in his entire life.
This place used to be absolutely delicious with a diverse and original menu, but now it's bland, mostly storebought, has poor service and is super expensive for...
Read moreThis was a surprisingly underwhelming experience. The place itself is very impressive, borderline posh: modern, well-designed, clean, atmospheric. The service is good, if you discard the fact that none of the waitresses speaks a word of English. But, oh, well, when in Rome... The place would have earned 5 stars from me, if not for the food. Which, admittedly, is kind of the whole point of going to a restaurant. We ordered the steak and shrimps from their Festival de Crevettes menu. My request for medium-well steak resulted in 2 strips of severely overdone meat with not much flavor to it (which felt like less than the advertised 7 oz, but that's subjective and hence beside the point). The shrimps were not bad, but that's about as much as I can give them. The house salad was good, but not good enough to offset the main course impressions. I thought, ok, let's give them another chance to repudiate themselves with a dessert. After all, what can go wrong with a piece of chocolate cake with ice cream? Well, they did manage to surprise me, and not in a good way. The ice cream was bland, and the cake... Not better than a generic school birthday party cake. It was a big piece, yes, but that didn't improve it's taste by an iota.
Bottom line: usually I am not too picky and it takes quite a lot of effort to disappoint me. Unfortunately, Casa Grecque had fully succeeded at that. Not...
Read moreOverpriced. Terrible quality. Poor service. I had a Greek Salad with 3 shrimp on top. $31.xx after tax. The Greek Salad was terrible, mostly lettuce badly cut, bland dressing with a sprinkle of feta. The 3 shrimp cost an extra 10 bux. They were grilled but had gotten cold. The server did not come back at all until well after I had finished- some extra lemons and hot sauce might have saved that bland food. The atmosphere is nice enough and the people eating beside me were great! You can bring your wine, too bad you can't bring your own food because you could pick up a superior salad from the gas station and...
