This was an amazing place. Their name Bistro doesn't do them justice. It should say "Fine Dining Bistro 22".
I'm a "foodie". I'm a person who really appreciates quality. And i acctually take joy in fine dining experiences, and do so often.
I Moved to Amherst from out west a year ago. I absolutely love Nova Scotia and I love the people. This is definitely my forever home. But out west there was an abundance of good food locations, which I've found hard to find near Amherst, NS.
Went on a road trip to Truro and Halifax last week and found this little Gem while walking down the street admiring Truro.
If this establishment found a larger resteraunt location...I would imagine they would be QUITE successful as a 'fine dining experience'.
Service was amazing. Waitress was so polite, attentive, and accommodating. We also didn't have to wait very long at all for our food.
Prices were perfect for affordability (word of advice to the owner.... you could charge $1 more for each of your dishes and everyone would still buy them!)
I ordered the large spinach salad. My friend ordered the garden salad. The food...was basically an explosion of heaven in my mouth. This is not an exaggeration. The appreciation I felt when I ate their food is out of this world. We were so impressed....we ordered our food twice. Even though the portions are completely adequate. Whoever invented up these dishes for the menu is a Chef Genius. And the quality of fresh selection by the chef. You couldn't possibly ask for better quality of food.
Even their coffee. I don't know where they get their coffee from!. But I asked the waitress if they had 'good coffee'....and she said their coffee was definitely really good and said we should try it. And holy....she wasn't lying! I've never raved about coffee in my entire life.....
The building is renovated very nicely and looks modern, even though it's in an older building. The business is noticeably CLEAN and you can see an effort is made to keep it in that constant condition.
They serve water in wine glasses with ice. It made for a beautiful experience. This would be a good place for a romantic dinner date for couples.
The location is also conveniently located in the heart of Truro.
I haven't raved about a resteraunt in a long time. I guess this place was just waiting for me to come in! They have alot of good reviews but the reviews just DONT do them justice. I hope my review will help put things into better perspective. Take my word for it and go experience the amazing food. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you Bistro 22 for such a great experience. I will be recommending this place to family...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Bistro 22 yesterday for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. We ordered a smoked salmon panini and a veggie panani and they were both great - the veggie one slightly edged out the salmon one and would be our recommendation. I had the house salad as the side and it was quite good. The house dressing (apple cider vinegar based) was very good. My wife had the Orzo (our first time trying it) and it was quite good. Note, that it's a cold pasta, and it's definitely worth a try. We also tried their homemade iced tea. It's unsweetened, so it's a bit different than typical store bought stuff, but we opened a sugar packet and sweetened it to our liking.
GET DESERT! We ordered a lemon cream pie and hot strawberry sundae for desert. They were both fantastic. We were told the ice cream was homemade, and it tasted sooo good. I'm not a huge fan of lemon deserts, so I'd recommend the sundae, but both are great choices.
I haven't tried their supper menu yet, but I'm looking forward to it the next time...
Read moreAMAZING! We don’t even have photos due to inhaling our food. We decided to take a chance by stopping here for a quick grab and run on our way to Cape Breton, it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve made all day. I had the lobster panini and my partner had the chicken and cranberry, both were incredible. The bun is buttery, fresh, light, and very evidently homemade. The portions aren’t huge but rather spot on, they don’t leave you hungry and it’s clear that because they’re not oversized the ingredients are quality and made with love. The flavours are traditional with a sense of comfortability, but it’s incredibly elevated with the simplicity of each quality ingredient being emphasized. We’re so happy to have stumbled upon this place and would recommend...
