Wing Riders & Burgers — Restaurant in Uxbridge

This review is based on the vacuum of Uxbridge and other restaurants in the town such as One Eye Jacks, Universal Wings & Burgers, other pubs and fast-food restaurants.

Burger

Best burger in the area is Zeal Burgers in Stouffville with fresh ground smash burgers but that a 20-25 min drive away. The burger patty at Wing Riders is a classic burger patty like Harvey’s, already an improvement compared to the average frozen patty. The value is slightly better than a fast-food restaurant due to its larger size. The true standout is the visible clean topping area which they do not skimp on and top generously. Arguably, the best non-franchise burger at its price point in Uxbridge.

Philly Cheese Steak

It’s good but with one caveat, I would not call it a traditional classic Philly Cheese Steak. The steak is rather chopped up in the cooking process making it more integrated with the rest of the ingredients closer to a stir fry then separated layers of ingredients. It also has a chipotle-like sauce that helps bind it all together instead of relying on light seasoning and the provolone to carry the flavors. I personally prefer this variation then an average traditional Philly.

Wings

The size is average with an average price given the increased cost of meat. If you really are expecting larger like Duff’s wings then you also need to be expecting to pay an additional 33% more. While it is correct that most commenters say that it appears to have less sauce that’s because Riders take it’s time to evenly coat the wings instead of just dumping sauce on it and calling it a day. Also, a warning that you should respect the heat meter here as 2 & 3 hot symbols are actually spicy. The dill sauce is good too.

Sides

Fries are the standard straight cut fries you’ve eaten everywhere. I do appreciate that they fry it a darker golden brown to impart crisper flavor. Onion rings and the mushroom caps were better sides and what I would recommend if you were going to get a combo.

Conclusion

The place is average with better than average value, but it has good customer service. There’s a real sense of pride and attention of detail in the way they handle the food that you need to see to comprehend: the way the toppings have been prepared, adding said toppings and sauces to your burger, evenly coating the wings, carefully wrapping your food, putting it in different types of containers and bags, then putting everything organized in a larger bag, etc. In the vacuum that is Uxbridge, I would consider this to be a very good restaurant for its price point.

Only downside is I didn’t get my two drinks for the Beer Boys combo but I’m pretty sure they expected that I would get it myself since the fridge was...

I've been coming here on and off since they opened and I have to say I find some of the positive reviews are either dishonest or fake. they definitely have a problem with consistency. I have had mixed experiences. some good and several not so good.

I have found that as long as you dont have any issues with your order everything is fine. but the minute something is not right with your order they dont seem to show any inclination to resolve it in a respectful way. I wouldn't place my order and then drive there to argue. I dont have time to argue with you. if there is a problem, you need to believe the customer and make adjustments, otherwise you will have more unhappy angry customers. as an example, McDonald's knows this very well and anytime I have a problem with my order they try to correct it right away instead of arguing or...

Got the burger and onion rings myself and my family got some of the other things like the Euro and chicken caesar wrap. The portions were excellent at great prices. They do not chince out on toppings or meat. I found the burger and onion rings to be some of the best in town if not the best. We haven't had a good quality restaurant in a while here in Uxbridge. The food was made quickly, the customer service is great and overall its just fantastic. One more thing to mention is that the price of all this is very very fair and so much more worth spending here then somewhere like wendys...
