Horrible experience was an understatement. I've been to many Breka chains before, but it has always been a to go experience for me. Donuts have always been fine, but this time was the first time I have eaten there and ordered anything other than donuts.
It was very busy and people seem to have been sitting there for a long time. One lady was sitting there with her laptop opened and fell asleep.
So when I ordered, lady asked me if this was for here, or to go. When I told her it was for here, she rudely asked me if I had a table and where am I going to sit (in a VERY condescending tone). Then she took it upon herself and told me that she will put it in a togo cup, so I can leave if I couldn't find a table. I felt like she was kicking me out.
We ordered: Chocolate Katifi Croissant $6 - the first bite I took, I felt my teeth rotting from all that sugar I bit into. It was not just sweet, it was beyond wanting a second bite kind of sweet. Cretzel Ham & Cheese Melt $7.25 - when I first opened the box, it reminded me of my dogs breakfast. It was a ham and cheese sandwich in between a croissant/pretzel bread that was probably pre-made, then "heated" up in the microwave. Latte $5.50 - it tasted "okay". Which was probably the best part of this visit. Iced Matcha Latte $5.75 - I asked for it to be sweetened (big mistake). Atleast it wasn't too sweet, but they are very generous with the sugar.
Not sure if I would want to...
Read moreI really like breka. Whenever I have a sweet crave my first stop is their products, all of their products are very high quality, and so are their sandwiches. When I order online I can order from many different locations, the only problem is that all the products I am looking for are not available at one place, this is very annoying. If there is a product I want at davie breka the other one is not available, when I look at sunrise breka I find one product and the other one is not available. This is very annoying. Also why aren't all your products available at ubereats, please improve the options. My favorite dessert is eclair. I always order an eclair without exception. Eclair has an incredibly rich filling, and the dough is delicious, it is a complete pleasure dessert. My only request from this place is that they also make profiteroles. I haven't seen anyone make a good profiterole in Vancouver, why isn't there? It shouldn't be hard to make pate a choux, after all eclairs and profiteroles have the same dough. Please add this to your menu. Then I would really order it every day, it's not that much trouble, just the ball version of the eclairs and the liquid chocolate ones. I hope you see this comment, I've never taken a photo of a product I bought from Breka, let's just say I didn't have the chance to take a photo because of I eat it directly. I'm always that satisfied...
Read moreThey opened this location about six months ago. I have been maybe four or five times because I am happier with and would prefer to give my money to the the real cafés throughout Hastings-Sunrise. The only reason that I have gone to this business is because sometimes I get off work late and would like to order something to eat…over the months that I have gone both the service and the quality of the food have dropped off significantly.
The staff seems super burned out. The food has become worse and worse. Today they were out of soup and the grilled sandwich that I opted for was ice cold. Also, there are flavors on my sandwich that should not even be there which leads me to believe that they don’t even scrape their sandwich press (or change gloves/wash hands) in between orders. I do not eat pork or beef. My sandwich that I ordered should not taste like pork. I wish they would’ve steered clear of my consciousness neighborhood instead of blowing up the scene
The photo I’ve shared shows a tuna “melt”. It’s stodgy and gross and cold. I threw it out. I’ve never been to a Breka before they opened this location, but my mouth is forever soured and I will never spend money there again. Been a few times too many, I’ll never...
