The restaurant is usually pretty busy and sometimes it may be the case that your party has to sit apart or wait. It is worth it. The restaurant is tidy but not flashy. The service is fine: You can get your order in quickly (food is not out particularly quickly though), get timely tea refills and the servers aren’t rude like some others have said. They’re not overly attentive but if you call for them they’ll be there. The highlight, as it should be, is the food. Everyone who visits this restaurant gets the Hainan chicken. The portion honestly isn’t the biggest for the price but the chicken and accompanying soup and rice are delicious. But actually though— I’m reaally sure we’re not getting a whole chicken unless they only buy tiny skinny ones. I recommend getting a whole chicken. Hainanese chicken usually comes with three sauces (soy, chili and ginger sauces) but the soy one isn’t served here. The two they do serve are very good though! I also recommend the roti with curry dipping sauce. Always order more than you think— the food holds up well as takeout food.

Since the restaurant is quite popular, we decided to visit at 1:30 PM, hoping for a shorter wait. As customers gradually left, we were seated within five minutes. We ordered the half boneless Hainan chicken (served with chicken oil rice and soup), Singapore-style fried noodles, and hot milk tea. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was underwhelming. The wait times were excessive—the soup arrived after 30 minutes, the tea at 35 minutes, the chicken (and rice) at 40 minutes, and the noodles at 50 minutes. While the tea and soup were very good, the rest of the meal was mediocre. Despite the menu highlighting "Free Range Chicken," we didn’t find the taste particularly superior. The chicken oil rice, which should have a light yellow hue and a rich chicken stock flavor, was inconsistent—some portions were pure white and tasted like regular rice. Service was minimal but friendly. However, one odd occurrence stood out: a couple who arrived after us received their half chicken and rice in just 15 minutes.

Something good, quick and satisfying on a rather wet Wednesday evening - and remembered one of our old favourites - city 1; funny how I always forget to review old favourites. This rezzie is perfect as their portions are not generous and suits a weekday dinner. And the Hainanese chicken is as good as in the past, but what’s outstanding are their chicken oil rice - Yummy - and the accompanying soup, which is such a good chicken broth that I guess they make from the bones of their boneless chicken. As good as home made chicken soup (oops, my better half is NOT gonna like this remark!). Opted for the half chicken with the 3 bowls of rice and 2 soups. My my my, they still serve small portions - must be pigmy chickens!! LOL, but the smoothness and flavour makes up for the lack of quantity. And the price - boy it’s higher than I remembered it - but what’s as cheap now as in the past??!! Oh well!!

Our group of 10 people came here for lunch on Sunday, August 28, 2022. When we arrived there were only us and a family of 3 at a different table.

Food was good, prices were reasonable. There were 2 servers at the restaurant, a tall younger lady, and a shorter, older lady. My complaint is towards the tall younger lady who was our server. She delivered everyone's food except my order, my wife's and my son's. 15 minutes after she delivered everyone else's food, I followed up and she said "It's coming".

Another 15 minutes, I followed up again, and she said the same thing "It's coming". Fast forward, an hour later, she pretty much delivered everyone's food including the now, full restaurant's patrons food, except ours. I asked her again, to please follow up on our order, as almost everyone at our table had their food and were almost done. She said again, that "it's coming". I said, no, please, it's almost an hour since I ordered and perhaps our order was delivered to another table as I saw an order of 1 dozen chicken satay delivered to another table that just arrived 15 minutes ago.

What irked me was, she just looked at me and walked away without saying another word nor acknowledging my complaint. My son and my in-laws said, that the server was very rude.

I flagged the older lady server, who apologized and explained that perhaps the other server missed my order. Finally my order arrived, close to an hour and 15 minutes after I ordered.

That young lady needs to be coached on customer service and just plain common courtesy. The whole time I kept my voice down, and was being very nice.

Maybe it was just my misfortune, but I would never go back to this restaurant nor recommend this to anyone. It turned a wonderful outing with family into...
