I had an extremely disappointing experience and this is my first time ever writing a review.
When we arrived, the restaurant was busy, and we waited about 10-15 minutes for a table, which was reasonable. However, after we were seated, more tables opened up, but the service remained frustratingly slow.
When placing my order, I asked about getting two smaller-sized âkleinâ pancakes as a half-and-half order. The server told me that a single pancake was about $18, but if I ordered two smaller ones, it would be $18 plus an extra $3-4. Based on this information, I went with the smaller option.
While waiting, we noticed several customers around us complaining about slow service, with some even telling the staff they were in a rush and had to leave. Unfortunately, we had the same experience, waiting almost 40 minutes for our food. Since we didnât complain or rush them, no one checked on us at all during that time.
When the food finally arrived, there was no apology for the long wait. Even after that, our water glasses were left empty, and we were never offered refills.
The final frustration came when we received the bill. We were charged for two full orders of pancakes ($18 x 2) instead of the expected $22 total based on what the server originally explained. When we asked about it, we were told it was actually a $3-4 discount per order, which was never explained when I initially asked. Had we known, we would have just ordered the full size. Again, there was no apology for the confusion.
Despite all of this, we still left a tip because the food itself was good. However, the poor service, long wait times, lack of communication, and overall attitude from the staff made this an incredibly frustrating experience. I wonât...

Read moreOur recent visit to De Dutch left us with a rather sour taste, both figuratively and literally. Despite the convenient location and easy access, it was a breakfast experience that we would have preferred to skip.
The food at De Dutch was, at best, mediocre. We had expected more from a restaurant specializing in breakfast. The quality and taste of the dishes were underwhelming, and nothing stood out as particularly memorable. It's disappointing when you start your day with high hopes for a delicious meal and end up with something that doesn't meet even basic expectations.
Service, unfortunately, was another letdown. Our interactions with the staff left much to be desired. They seemed disinterested and inattentive, which detracted from the overall dining experience. It's a shame when lackluster service compounds the disappointment of subpar food.
While the location of De Dutch may be convenient for some, we couldn't help but feel that it wasn't worth the stop. There are plenty of other breakfast spots in Vancouver that offer both better quality food and more attentive service. Our visit to De Dutch felt like a waste of a breakfast opportunity in this vibrant city.
In summary, our experience at De Dutch left us with little to recommend. The combination of mediocre food and poor service made it a regrettable choice for breakfast during our visit to Vancouver. We'll be seeking out other dining options...
