We had an awful morning here. We’ve been here many times. The staffs today were very unprofessional. We had our own mug with us and asked to have the Americano in there 3x. The lady in the short black hair nodded. The americano came in the cup and the misto came in our mug.

Fine.

The lady & the other curly Afro hair girl were jumping up and down behind the counters. I wondered were my muffin was. It came unproperly heated so was cold in the inside. Went back to them and got it reheated. Got it back again and one of the pieces were still cold. And she said it was due to avoid contamination. Doesn’t make sense. If contamination was the issue, none that were touched / cut should be reheated to begin with. Then she said she’d do it again.

At this point we’re quite frustrated with 3 incorrect / improper services.

Then she goes to serve other customers so my food doesn’t get prepped. I told her I just want a refund.

There seems to be huge egos of these staff as they didn’t want to acknowledge their wrong, no apologies, no communication whatsoever apart from just sliding the plate over as if I had inconvenienced them. Telling me why they didn’t reheat a part of my food which was supposed to be heated in the first place.

Very disappointing. Very unprofessional.

At this point my partner is upset obviously bc he choose this place and has been a long time customer and I received very poor service.

He was explaining to the black short hair lady what was wrong / what should have been done & the curly hair girl said - it’s ok don’t worry about it to the black short hair lady.

This is not high school. You - staff should be worried about the wrong order / multiple poor services. And you - staff as colleagues should be able to educate and train your staff. This is not a place where friends hang out to chat / play / defend each other. It’s a professional business setting.

In fact, there is a money exchange with service & goods, it’s a legal obligation to hold up part of your bargain. If you - staff as an adult don’t understand that you should not be hired anywhere. That’s a fundamental...

So I buy my morning latte at this location, it's convenient to where I live and work. This morning, I noticed that they just started promoting a product called GRAIN, which consists of small boxes of grains such as chick peas, quinoa, something wheat... and which are priced at exorbitant prices. The quinoa, for example is 20 dollars for the small (a couple of ounces, max, packaged in an oh so organic suggesting) tan box... because, as the person behind the counter explained, they are grown in... Canada. OBSCENE prices for grains not native to Canada, grown in Canada. Seriously? I objected to them promoting such a product, really insulting here, in this neighbourhood, where homeless people trudge the alleys. I tried to talk to the worker(s), got some insulting runarounds, I asked for the owner/manager (I am not particularly crazy, I just wanted for them think about not doing it in this location), but nope, instead they gave me an email address which obviously goes to their spamfilter. Needless to say, I shall never again patronize Elysian Coffee. Rude, patronizing employees, ridiculously overpriced product promotions... and a good latte can be had at Gene on the corner of Main and Kingsway...

I’ve been coming in here for over 10 years and today me and my partner walked in in good moods ordered two coffees that were wrong. We ordered an egg muffin that we sent back three times because it was cold. The staff didn’t verbally acknowledge us when they came over to our table to leave the egg muffin, there was no verbal acknowledgement whatsoever they put the plate down, turned around and walked away. The two new barista‘s were very rude to me and my girlfriend I asked for the manager‘s business card. I was laughed at I couldn’t make my point without getting bullied out of the store I’ve been coming here 10 years and because of two new barista’s, I won’t be coming back if this is how you treat somebody who’s given you hundreds hundreds and hundreds of dollars then I’ll go somewhere else. When the barista’s are more interested in talking between themselves and not caring about the people in the coffee shop then I’ll go somewhere else. I suppose you can’t expect much in this day and age given the money these people earn….. this is a Vancouver...

A croissant, no matter how good, needs the right companion. At Elysian, the coffee is never an afterthought; it’s one of the star of the show. I paired my pastry with a simple latte, allowing the quality of their house-roasted beans to shine through. The espresso was rich and complex, with notes of dark chocolate and a hint of stone fruit, expertly balanced with perfectly steamed microfoam. The synergy between the creamy, robust coffee and the sweet, fruity croissant was perfect. Elysian prides itself on its roasting process, which you can often get a glimpse of if you visit their roastery location in Mount Pleasant. That commitment to sourcing quality beans and roasting them in-house translates directly into every cup they serve. They understand that a great cafe experience is the sum of its parts, and their coffee program is top-tier.

A great coffee shop away from the crowd and main streets in Vancouver. It is more comfortable drinking coffee here. The interior design is minimalist and the cafe is very spacious having an empty area that is separating the counter and cashier with the tables and chairs. Customers can sit and enjoy their coffee and chat with their friends or study or do their work without interruption. We ordered a regular latte and one with soy milk. Both tasted really good. I had tried latte at different Elysian cafe in Vancouver. None of them disappointed me including this one. Thumbs up! I really liked this cafe. People who live and work in this neighbourhood should feel grateful to have a good coffee shop around. :)

Got the mixed berry scone I think and the summer special iced jasmine lychee tea. The scone was yummy and I love lychee flavor so this drink was good. Paired well with the floral jasmine flavor after the lychee flavor in the beginning. Not overwhelming nor sweet. My mom and I came with our laptops but unfortunately they do not have free wifi so we had to use our hotspot. So keep in mind if you are coming there to do some work. They also closed at 4pm and we went there kinda late as they didn't have enough staff that day. But staff are friendly and nice and the seating area is not bad either.
