------- editing my original post in response to what Queen Noor had to say
Relationships aside to businesses I prefer to support I thought I would offer you some insight to your claims on your food safety incident. I have previously worked in a food safety capacity developing and maintaining HACCP food plans for federal level food businesses. These food plans are more strict than the ones than what your local businesses must follow in their respective municipalities so I feel can offer some insight. Your claim about rancid fat is debatable as butter is very stable at room temperature and can be kept at room temperature for a few days with no effect (there are many sources you can look into which will prove it is safe from temperature abuse at room temperature) That aside, often a food illness incident is seldom a single event as it tends to affect many people especially in a batch cooking scenario. I admit I am a frequent customer of Fife but that has also allowed me to witness many times where they are prepping product and none of their handling procedures have raised a concern to me where I feel their operating procedures would make me question if there is any physical, chemical, allergenic contaminants and or temperature abuse through unsafe food handling. I understand your position as food illness should not be taken likely but in my opinion (I understand if you feel it is invalid because of my public opinion of Fife) it may have come from another source. If you are really looking to escalate your position then I advise you pursue your efforts with Vancouver Coastal Health and not the Ministry of Health but based on my experience, the environmental health officer (if they send one on your request) whom will visit the site will find that the business will be above compliance with regulation and your case at best will be found as a one off deviation with too many variables to point the blame directly at Fife.
I am disappointed that you would resort to issuing threats and demanding money from the owner, especially with his courteous response and genuine care to correct the situation. You resorted to (again in my opinion) using online outrage culture like antics.
Everything aside, on Facebook (which you have now removed) you resorted to making a racial remark about Asians. If nothing else, this really hurts your credibility and actually would put your morals/overall character into question.Your Google reviews have cited being treated unfairly because of race or cultural attire so it is surprising that you would go this route. Be better than that.

The bread is magic, will completely change your understanding to what sourdough should taste like (we've really been brain washed by the commercial large scale baking). Stop by a have a chat with Felix, he's always happy to discuss his products and once you try it, you'll honestly...
Read moreI decided I felt so traumatized about my loss of funds that I needed to speak up. First, I love bakeries it's heart breaking for me when I experience is less than at least good! Well I went to this bakery, Fife. As usual its mistake to go late afternoon, my bad. They were sold out of almost everything. However, we got two chocolate chip cookies and a sort of chocolate custard crumpet type of pastry. We shared it but the custard was not in even distribution. Meaning one person got it all and other got a dry piece of crumpet with a silver of custard. I should have asked for it be neatly cut for us. The chocolate chip cookies had a surprising pleasant taste to them and worth the money. It's a mediocre bakery experience but these cookies I would go back for if I was in some dire need. The Americano's were smooth and rich, very nicely done but the temperature was lower than lukewarm. The excuse was, you asked for 2 cremes? In my whole lifetime of drinking coffee two shots of cream have not made my drink ridiculously borderline cold. Next I am sure he microwaved and came them back to us with hot drinks. At this point the experience is deflated and no redemption was available. But wait it gets worse, I also purchased bread! That I couldn't get until the next day because I wanted it sliced. I was told I needed to get bread knife. I am gluten intolerant , thank goodness not Celiac, splurging on bread is not option but a random luxury. Hence the bakery can be a sore spot for me. Well anyway hoping to redeem the 25$ I spent. I did go back the next day for the bread. The girl did offer me a refund but I was more interested in least having something to show for my experience. The girl also did not respond to me saying, I left a voicemail about my experience. No response to either. But sadly the bread was disappointing. I felt it was hot dense doughy mess. Perhaps a toaster and some butter will do it good! But no the toaster just made it crispy crunchy and still hard to break the bite. Wondering what happened to this bread, I preceded to find in the world of Google. This possible explanation, dense or heavy bread can be the result of not kneading the dough long enough. Mixing the salt and yeast together or losing patience in the middle of molding your bread and there is not enough tension in your finished loaf before baking. Interesting I say! Well, I recommend going but keep the cost of your visit less than 10$. If it's good...
Read moreI can only comment about the bread. Have had all four-Country, Birdfeeder, Porridge , and Olive. All were great-just to note, the Olive is the Country with Kalamative olives added. They are big and juicy olives. Even though it is the same bread, it did look and taste different. The Olive was softer than the Country. In the photo, the Olive is on the left, the Country on the right. All four options are distinctive and worth tries. Delicious bread with great aroma.
Another visit for the Birdfeeder and the Country. After trying a lot of (great) bread, we still like Fife best. The aroma is recognizable as Fife's and after taking a bite of their bread we feel happy and content. The crust is crunchy but thin enough to cut and bite through easily. The inside is spongy and almost moist in texture, even after freezing and toasting it. Fantastic. I forgot that the Porridge is a rotating grain. This time it was black rye and oats. Argh, I should have asked when I called, so next time. One note-I called in my order and when I picked it up, a lady behind the counter said 'Thanks Daniel'. It took me a moment to realize she was talking to me as I didn't expect that (I would think more so in a formal business setting). That was a nice personal touch, so thanks for that!
Recently got my hands on a Porridge Loaf-this time with oats and marquis wheat. Fife continues to baffle me with bread that when I cut into it, it feels moist inside but still fully baked. You might even see some 'shiny' areas in the bread. Even after slight toasting they remain. I eat this bread untoasted or just slightly to enjoy that. The marquis is strewn throughout and adds some texture and nuttiness to this loaf. Just amazing alone or with a bit of olive oil and...
