I believe in tipping when it’s deserved, but I also believe that tipping should be optional in places like an ice cream shop, where there’s no table service or ongoing attention. I always tip at restaurants, but I was surprised to feel pressured to tip here.

I usually go to the Fraser St. location, where the staff is always friendly. I decided to try this location instead, something I now regret. I came all the way from Richmond to get ice cream after breaking my fast for Ramadan, and after a long day without food or drink, I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing.

I ordered a double scoop, and I was shocked at how little ice cream I received. It was less than what I’d normally get in a single. Meanwhile, the rest of my group received generous portions. The only difference was that I was the only one who didn’t leave a tip. The employee’s attitude made it clear she wasn’t happy about that, and it seems like my portion size was affected because of it.

If tipping is now an unspoken requirement for getting a fair serving here, customers deserve to know. Otherwise, this location should ensure that every customer gets the same experience, regardless of whether they tip. I’d recommend going to Fraser St. instead, where I’ve never had an issue.

FYI the green one is mine. It’s a different angle but you can literally see the rim of my cup and the holes on either side and the other photo is of my friends FULL cup it’s past the rim. Both of us ordered double scoops. You can see the clear difference. Major...

Earnest Ice Cream on Quebec Street is an absolute delight and a must-visit spot for any ice cream lover. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed with a warm, friendly vibe and the comforting aroma of handcrafted goodness. The minimalist yet charming décor creates a cozy environment that perfectly complements their artisan ice cream philosophy.

The real magic, of course, is in the ice cream itself. Each flavor is thoughtfully created with top-quality, locally sourced ingredients. I tried the Salted Caramel and London Fog — both were rich, creamy, and incredibly satisfying. The texture is velvety smooth, and the flavors are bold without being overpowering. Vegan options are just as decadent, making it a fantastic choice for everyone.

The staff is another highlight — genuinely enthusiastic and happy to offer samples or suggestions based on your taste. Their passion for what they do really shines through.

I also appreciate Earnest’s commitment to sustainability. Ice cream is served in reusable glass jars (with a deposit system), which adds a unique touch and shows real care for the environment.

Whether you're a local or just visiting Vancouver, Earnest Ice Cream on Quebec Street is worth the trip. It’s more than just a treat — it’s an experience that leaves you smiling. Highly...

I’ve been going to this branch since summer 2021, but today was something special.

I line up to order, which is always busy in the evening but always has good vibes, and when I ask to try a flavour I would never get (I planned to try Jalepeno Honey Bread), before I said the flavour the server said Jalepeno. I agreed to it. Did she know before? (She probably just picked a random flavour) That made me chuckle. To no surprise I wasn’t really a fan of it haha

After that, I chose my scoops which were pumpkin spice latte (which tastes great, wish they had it for more than a month) and milk chocolate. I paid and waited for my ice cream cone.

When she back with the ice cream, I immediately saw the top part was white. That confused me since both of my flavours are not white. She realized the mistake, I asked if it was Vanilla, but it was in fact Jalepeno! Guess I really wanted to have that flavour tonight LOL

Nonetheless that was funny and we shared a laugh. She fixed my order right away, but then she pulled a pint of pumpkin spice latte from the freezer and surprised me! She offered me a free pint, and that was such a nice gesture ^-^

I asked her later if that was okay and she said yes, so I will happily enjoy the pint at home.

Always tip your ice...

Came Sunday, and this place was Mad busy! 1st time here, and it was pretty chaotic, or at least it felt overwhelming. It made sense why it's so busy when I tasted my Vegan Orange Cremesicle Portion was massive.. She recommended kid size since I didn't want too much, but even the kid size was massive haha I'll definitely be back to try more flavors! Tip: They offer sample tasters
