Had a quick lunch with my son here yesterday. I love that they have the black rice option for their sushi. Got two lunch set menus for both of us. Boy, left feeling very full. 3* because the tuna sashimi wasn’t fresh— it was very soggy. Obviously, I can tell it was defrosted from being frozen but probably it wasn’t fresh even before it was frozen or… it was defrosted a few times. Just not as good as the other sushi places around. I told the staff and she just said well, it was frozen so it’s either you eat a frozen one or a defrosted one which is that. I was like ????? Salmon sashimi is not like that. I’ve asked her to address this to the kitchen but never got back with a feedback so I guess my comment was only taken with a grain of salt. I’d only come back here if I want to eat something quick and go since there’s no lineup. Atmosphere looks quite dated which I don’t really mind. Overall, good presentation looks good, value is ok, freshness of tuna sashimi needs to be better since they’re not cheap.

This place is located close to Olympic village downtown. Definitely one of the top 3 sushi places around downtown Vancouver, and Vancouver has ALOT of sushi restaurants. The food is always quality and fresh, They make everything pretty fast and everything is reasonably priced and Definitely get what you pay for. They also recently put a little seating section outside which is nice if you'd like to eat outside on the street pretty much. Also the staff and employees are very friendly and always have great service. I went there with a service dog about a month ago, which was the first time I had ever been there, and I came back about a month later and the waitress actually remembered who I was and asked where the dog was cause she thought he was cute 🤣 Nice to find places where staff remembers who you are and appreciates your contribution to the company. Definitely 5* rating from me. Thank you Manna Sushi 🍣 💙.

I saw some negative reviews about the restaurant and the food here. These people ordered sushi, sashimi and other dishes. I only came here once and tried their lunch box. Based on this only one time eating experience, I could only judge based on their lunch box was delicious. The price was reasonably cheap on the bento box at $10. It had many varieties that I could taste a little bit of everything. My lunch box was a beef teriyaki one. It included a bowl of miso soup, beef teriyaki with veggies and rice, prawn and veggies tempura, two gyozas, California roll and some salad. The whole combo was perfect that I didn't really have anything to criticize. The customer service was ok. It would be great if the servers could smile a little bit more and be more friendly. I wouldn't mind to go back and try other dishes and see if it was true that many people complained about the food.

Initially, we intended to order takeout from Manna Sushi, but we changed our minds and didn't regret it.

To start off, I decided to try their veggie udon soup, and I must say, it was a bowl of pure comfort. The udon noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chewiness, and the flavorful broth was both rich and aromatic. The generous portion of fresh vegetables added a delightful crunch and provided a healthy balance to the dish. It was the ideal choice for a light and satisfying appetizer.

Next up was the veggie tempura, which exceeded all expectations. The batter was light and crispy, giving the assortment of vegetables a delicate and mouthwatering texture. Each bite was a perfect combination of flavors, and I appreciated the attention to detail in ensuring that the vegetables were cooked to perfection without losing their natural freshness.

Tthe beef teriyaki with rice was a true highlight. The tender and succulent beef, glazed with a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, was a taste sensation. The dish was beautifully presented and served with a side of fluffy rice that complemented the flavors perfectly. It was a hearty and satisfying choice that left us longing for more.

Finally, we had the pleasure of trying the Korean-style hot pot, and it was a delightful journey of flavors. The broth was rich and full-bodied, infused with a harmonious blend of spices and aromatics. The assortment of vegetables and protein created a wonderful medley of textures, and each ingredient contributed its unique essence to the overall dish. It was a delightful and comforting culinary experience that left me feeling warm and content.

The service at Manna Sushi was exceptional throughout my visit. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were happy to provide recommendations and ensured that every aspect of my dining experience was taken care of.

In conclusion, Manna Sushi is a true haven for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts. Their laid-back atmosphere, combined with the delectable dishes they serve, make for an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're craving traditional Japanese standards or innovative sushi rolls, Manna Sushi has something to offer everyone. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in their veggie udon soup, veggie tempura, beef teriyaki with rice, or the flavorful Korean-style hot pot. Your taste buds will...

I just wanted to point out once again that I really don't like to give low star reviews for small businesses, but I believe that my first and last experience with Manna Sushi, justifies this. Our family and our friend's family went there yesterday and the place was not that full. The server brought us a pitch of water and 7 cups, which she just left on the table for us to serve ourselves. Food was ordered and it took forever. We ordered the party platter sushi for 3-4 people, and the kids ordered Udon. I couldn't tell exactly how long it took, but I believe it was over 25 minutes waiting. To make things worse the food was horrible. a) The sushi rice was still very warm. b) There was one sushi that they used sliced beef on it. Weird, but acceptable. But the problem was that the beef was not fresh- felt like it was reheated in microwave. Overall, the entire platter did not seem fresh and it looked like it was assembled using left over food. c) The server was not very nice, but she was one thin hair of being called "rude". No smile, no courtesy...horrible service. d) On the way to the bathroom, we have to go through a corridor where we see the kitchen entrance. That place was a mess and you can see garbage close to the rice makers that were at the corridor.

To make things worse, this morning our daughter woke up and complained about a small stomachache. Fast forward to 11:30 am, school called and said she was throwing up so we have to pick her up. She complained about last night's udon, specially the sliced beef that did not feel fresh- the same one they put in the sushi.

Bottom line, terrible service with terrible tasting food, leads to terrible experience. I really hope the restaurant can rebound from this and...

UPDATE: Changing 1 star to 4 star review as the lady owner was very nice and gave a full credit of the previous order and included some extra things as well such as miso soup which was hot this time. The sushi was much better this time and you could tell it was more carefully prepared and packaged.

We ordered take out quite a few times because we live in Olympic village and this is the closest sushi place in the area. They can never get an order right even when you specifically ask for your request in person. I don't like dealing with the soya sauce packs so we always ask to put the soya sauce in 2 plastic cups. They say ok but very rarely do it and they tie the bag in such a way that you can't open it to check without ripping. How hard is it to give 2 soya sauce in a plastic cup?? They either give empty plastic cups or none at all majority of the time.

Also the quality of the rolls and the way they are made is very inconsistent. I always order the spicy salmon roll and sometimes they put the spicy mayo on top and other times not.

Today, we ordered take out at around 7pm and the sushi was so sloppily prepared and squished in the box like it was made by some amateur and didnt even taste good. They also made the gyoza deep fried when we ordered pan fried and the miso soup is always lukewarm without any tofu. Felt like a...
