I am reviewing the Christmas holiday dinner order only, NOT their regular service. Consequently, I am reviewing their holiday dinner services only - as far as I know, they do this service for Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.
My order was delivered without warning on December 30. I was informed over email it would be delivered on December 30 or December 31st. I expected it on the 31st, however I recognize the miscommunication on both our ends for that issue. I did receive an email from them for all of their customers about delivery happening on December 24; I replied to that email to remind them of our agreed upon later delivery. I expected a confirmation email prior to December 30 about which date would be the best for delivery, and expected it on December 31 given that I originally requested to pick it up on NYE. The driver did not receive communication about my order at all, and I was not in the country at the time of delivery, and was asked about equipment the driver expected me to have that I had no idea about. This caused great anxiety, and there was no accountability taken by the company.
The rosemary biscuits were also severely undercooked; I emailed asking about how to fix this and it took a week for them to respond (and I had to follow up with them for a response).
The stuffed turkey roulade advertised having sausage inside; I found only two pieces of sausage bites inside the stuffed turkey. The breadcrumbs were not a good texture, and did not taste like breadcrumbs at all, but rather like rice (I am not saying it was rice - I know it wasn't - but because of how it was cooked, the texture was not as expected).
The pear crumble was the best thing I was able to eat; but I would never recommend it. The skin on the pears were kept on; I even googled how to make a pear crumble to confirm my suspicions - when you make a pear crumble, you peel the pears. It's a basic commonality when making the dish.
Overall, the cooking quality felt very lazy. Undercooked biscuits, falsely represented stuffed turkey, unpeeled pears in a pear crumble - all lazy cooking, and that's what I was thinking while eating.
EDIT: After sharing my initial review (which I've partially removed to include this update), the company reached out to me and generously offered a complimentary replacement service with their Valentine's Day dinner. While I did experience ongoing issues with communication and delivery, I found the food to be an improvement. The charcuterie cups were disappointing and not as advertised, but I understand that they were outsourced, so that may not be entirely their responsibility. I initially rated them three stars, but I've decided to increase it to four stars based on my overall experiences. I might consider ordering from them again, as I recognize that this is a new service and they are still gathering their bearings. I believe their main focus should be on enhancing communication and ensuring reliable delivery, as the frequent delivery changes have made it difficult to trust them with basic order expectations and reliability. I do look forward to seeing their other menus for future holidays and to see if it's something I would order.
I truly appreciate their commitment to accommodating allergen and dietary needs. While the cooking seemed a bit lackluster this time, especially with the outsourced charcuterie cups, it was still a noticeable improvement compared to their Christmas...
Read moreFresh In Your Fridge(FIYF) is unreal!! Before I make mention of the food/service itself let me speak to how amazing the staff/whole team is.. from the initial call, to the chefs, right up to the actual delivery driver, everyone is super friendly, accommodating, and willing to work with you to give you the best experience possible… My girlfriend and I are super busy and have very hectic/unpredictable schedules, which at times has proved to make scheduling things difficult. That being said, the FIYF team worked with us despite us having very specific windows/requests. Once we sorted everything out, we threw another curve ball at them and moved to a new house on short notice lol. Again not a problem, they moved things around and our service wasn’t interrupted at all.
Now.... the food/service itself is insane lol… I’ve tried a handful of different meal prep/food services and didn’t exactly love them. I find that they just recycle the same handful Of dishes and mix/match on their menus every week. Furthermore the quality of meat/produce isn’t great, FIYF uses all local organic produce and high quality meats. My gf and I value a healthy diet, but lack the time and knowledge to get creative in the kitchen. Plain chicken and rice with frank's twice a day got old after some time. FIYF has all 5-star quality chefs, and can cater to your dietary needs/wants. If you’re super health conscious, they got you. If you just want delicious high quality food, they got you. You are involved in your personal menu every week, they give you a few days to make any notes or adjustments. These chefs are really good at what they do, so once you give a few notes it goes into the memory bank and gets taken into account moving forward.
This review went a little longer than I had hoped, but they’re that good. I barely scratched the surface with my praises… if you want a meal prep/ personal chef food service .. They are the best and worth every penny. Not even...
Read moreWow! I can't say enough good stuff about FIYF. This has been lifechanging for me.
As a single working mom, it's such a load off my shoulders to free up 1-2 hours every evening of prepping dinner/cleaning up, not to mention the mental load of meal planning. I get to spend more time with my kids, and I'm a different kind of mom during that time too, because I'm stress-free!
On top of that, to have the peace of mind that my family is being fed well-rounded meals composed of nutrient-rich whole foods (they literally purchase all their ingredients from Whole Foods!) with the highest quality ingredients... it's priceless. (Okay I totally sound like a commercial now lol)
Also, my family has some dietary restrictions, and it's so wonderful to be able to eat our favourite foods worry-free, knowing my personal chef has adjusted for our sensitivities.
But for most consumers, the biggest questions are probably taste and pricing. Well the taste is amazing. My kids gobble up foods they normally don't even like and ask for more! My daughter raved about how she'd never seen pesto pasta that was sooo creamy. I took a bite of our almond-crusted chicken the other night and I literally couldn't believe how flavorful it was. I seriously sitting there contemplating, how could a simple chicken dish taste THIS good?
Pricing-wise... Well, the service is not cheap but definitely fair considering what you receive (delivery, customized meals, premium ingredients). I receive the 8 meal package, and 2 portions is enough for me and my 2 daughters (with leftovers!) so we are able to spread our meals across 4 days. When I think of the money I used to spend ordering takeout from DoorDash 5-6x a week (on meals that were definitely not as healthy), it's...
