%10 bakery %90 Cafe (Skip to Summary below)

To an uninterested eye this definitely looks like a bakery-café fusion. Come for your coffee fix(my espresso was done well) and a baked good. Unfortunately problem with places like this is how much of the food is baked/prepared in-house and if not how fresh is the daily deliver?(central bakery/truck/cafe)

The Coffee bean or the commercial espresso machine or the barista/chef/baker hybrid person-employee dude or all three combined did a decent job on the taste, krema was thin but all in all the bean is good for a standard latte.

Baked goods the underwhelming plating took me away from the cafe, the metal trays imply they do the baking of the muffins but do they do the mixing there? Or is the batter made and delivered(fresh daily?)?

I didn't appreciate the uniforms, that's a vast misconception about bakers. Baking is a trade like carpentry, serious baking merits a apron and a thin clean shirt(bakeries = humidity/extensive labour/heat oven). The uniforms are a gimmick here.

The pricing for coffee is the average %300-400 markup ($4-6), the business is fair in the prices and makes it up with the baked products as well as the lunch/savoury menu.

In summary:

Coffee bean was decent and can do lattes, even a espresso shot without shocking your system.

The bakery side was underwhelming and the products didn't impress me with unique qualities.

Price range is average but for me I would consider the design is strong, seating is organized well.

Overall it's worth it to study here because "it's cool and the foods not bad, coffees pretty good" kind of place.

Try the bun yourself, if It's literally the brand logo, for me it did not look as special as the...

The cookies and coffee were delicious, but I had an unfortunate experience with one of the staff members, who was quite rude.

I initially ordered one cookie to go, then asked to change it to two, and the staff member let out a very loud sigh. Later, as I was rushing to leave before the café closed, I didn’t realize I’d left my wallet behind. When I noticed it was missing, I hurried back and arrived around 8:05 pm. I knocked on the door, and the same staff member who sighed earlier made a dismissive gesture across her neck, indicating they were closed. I continued knocking, and she opened the door slightly and said, “We are closed.”

I explained that I knew they were closed, but I just wanted to check if my wallet was there. She kept interrupting with, “What? What?” It was frustrating and left a bad impression.

Although I later found my wallet somewhere else, I was quite disappointed by the staff member’s rudeness. Despite this, the café itself is fantastic, and the food and drinks are truly...

I won these free Pumpkin Buns from @groundsyvr and they were soooo good! They use the same cinnamon buns that they are famous for, but put a pumpkin spice frosting on top in place of the usual frosting. Mmm...absolutely heavenly!

I had tried the regular cinnamon buns earlier this year from their Alma St. location. This location on Commercial Drive seems bigger to me, with more places to sit. To be honest, I can't even remember if there were any places at all to sit at Alma St. as I was in a bit of a rush to buy the buns and go when I was there. My gut instinct though, tells me that the Commercial Drive location is bigger.

Service: Good (They were very helpful in trying to help me with some complications I experienced in trying to redeem my free pumpkin buns through their app.) Parking: 🚗 Free parking on the side streets off of Commercial Drive. Location: On Commercial Drive with lots of other shops and...

This coffee shop is airy and simplistic in design, with a warm, authentic vibe to it. Exactly the kind of coffee shop you want to visit when you're spending an afternoon on the Drive, or of you're looking for a place to "work from home". The servers are relaxed and friendly yet still professional and courteous, (even after being asked by ten people in a row what the internet password was). 🤣 The easy listening music selection was on point - they were playing something like smooth Jazz when I was there. 🤗 Of course Grounds for Coffee is most famous for their wildly popular cinnamon buns! But I personally like them more for their vegan Shepard's pie! 🌱 (See attached photo). Which is also bringing them fame amongst the plant based crowd. Another reason to visit here is to oogle at the gorgeous Art pieces! They showcase local artists' work which is also for sale.
