I've been to Grandview Lanes a number of times before and I normally have a good time doing 10 pin bowling. However, this time was different. For my birthday this year, I booked two 10 pin lanes weeks in advance and even called to confirm the booking on the day. I arrived with a large group of friends, all expecting to play 10 pin downstairs (I really don't like 5 pin and especially glow in the dark lanes), and was told that they had booked me upstairs for glow in the dark bowling. I explained I had booked two downstairs 10 pin lanes weeks in advance and called to confirm, but they said there was a booking error and nothing they could do. They tried to 'compensate' me with free shoes, which were already included in my booking...They eventually gave me kid's rates, which was only a $4 discount. At this point, I was under the impression that whilst I would have to do glow in the dark bowling upstairs, it would at least still be 10 pin. Turns out it was all 5 pin upstairs...this was not made clear to me at all. I went back downstairs to figure it out and the employee took a much more impatient and hostile tone when I tried to explain the situation to her. They weren't willing/able to do anything about it, so ultimately I got screwed on my birthday. They either over booked or messed up my booking despite me taking all necessary precautions regarding booking and confirming.
This bowling alley is not great - I only go there because it's the only one close to downtown with 10 pin lanes. The lane machinery constantly malfunctions, the space is not well maintained and the staff make major errors such as the one above. Considering I was pretty excited to do 10 pin bowling for my birthday, I was left feeling angry and...
Read moreWould give zero if I could, I called them up multiple times and decided to go there in person after getting forwarded to their voicemail every single time. When I got there I inquired about their pizza bowl special and the employees at the time told me it was only applicable for regular bowling. They said it should be fine to not make a reservation since my group was a bit undecided if we wanted to do the regular bowling and it was super empty that day (there was only 1 time slot that was booked). I called again later to ask more details about the pizza options and was told this time that actually any bowling worked for the pizza bowl. They also assured me that they had plenty of space for any option for that day. However when I called once more today to triple check that everything would be fine for our small group event, the customer service rep informed me that they would be randomly closing at 6pm for a "spring cleaning." When I told them that the employees I talked to said nothing about this, even as of 2 days ago they kept repeating that they were closed. When I was trying to ask them how to find out this information in advance since apparently their employees are not a reliable source of information they kept interrupting me with more of "sorry we're closed" before hanging up on me. I understand that being a customer service rep is not easy but that doesn't mean you have to be rude. Especially considering the amount of misinformation there is even amongst employees. Overall a very frustrating experience.
TL;DR - Lots of contradicting information from staff, poor organization and overall pretty bad customer service. Would...
Read moreWe had a disappointing experience at this bowling centre. Based on our experience, there are a few areas where the centre could improve its service.
Firstly, the issue with the food order not being prepared despite calling more than 48 hours in advance is certainly frustrating. Itâs very disappointing that the centre didn't live up to their promise. Although, they tried to accommodate the orders that night we came but they should ensure that they are properly staffed and prepared to handle food orders within the promised timeline.
Secondly, while the centre did admit their mistake in serving the wrong food, it's unfortunate that it took additional time and effort on our part to get the correct order. This is an area where they could have done better to ensure that their guests' orders are correct.
Thirdly, the fact that the centre didn't allow us to extend for another game that we already paid for is disappointing. As a paying customer, we should have been given the opportunity to use the full value of our payment. It's important for the centre to communicate clearly with their guests about the terms of their bookings.
Lastly, the rude behaviour of the worker we encountered is unacceptable. Guests should feel comfortable approaching staff with their concerns, and it's important that employees are trained to handle complaints with empathy and professionalism.
Overall, the bowling centre needs to improve its service to provide a better experience for its guests. It's important for them to listen to customer feedback and take steps to address the issues we...
