⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem for Authentic Mexican Flavors! La Playita on Cambie Street is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a delightful dining experience. The menu is packed with a variety of traditional Mexican dishes, each bursting with flavor. I started with the guacamole and chips, which were freshly made and seasoned to perfection. For the main course, I opted for the fish tacos, and they did not disappoint. The fish was cooked just right, and the combination of fresh ingredients made every bite a pleasure. One of the standout features of La Playita is their dedication to quality and authenticity. The ingredients are fresh, and the dishes are clearly made with love and attention to detail. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable considering the high quality of the food. The service is another highlight. The staff are friendly, attentive, and happy to make recommendations if you're unsure of what to order. They really go out of their way to ensure you have a great dining experience. In addition to the fantastic food and service, the ambiance of La Playita is charming and cozy. It's the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or a relaxed dinner date. The decor is vibrant and adds to the overall enjoyable dining experience. Overall, La Playita on Cambie Street is a true hidden gem in Vancouver. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is one place you definitely don't want to miss. Highly...

Went there for the first time. It was about 45 mins before closing when we arrived and pretty busy. The initial server was friendly and helpful. We ordered serveral drinks and food including ceviche, tostadas, tacos and “sushi”. The seafood was very good and pretty authentic. The sushi however was terrible. The kitchen was closing and it came out extremely burnt. I explained to the second server that it was over cooked and sent it back after taking a bite. No apology or anything, but when the bill came, I asked why I was charged for it and she replied “you asked for it”. I explained that although I ordered it, I did not eat it and sent it back as it was over cooked and not edible. She kept repeating that I had ordered it and had to pay for it. I didn’t want to cause a a scene, but found it extremely unacceptable. She rolled her eyes and walked to the back where she spoke to some man. Came back a few minutes later and threw the invoice on the table with the item removed. The seafood was good, but this server had a terrible attitude. For that reason alone I don’t think we...

I've been coming here since they've opened at their original location. They've been losing its touch since they started to expand. It's a shame as these folks had hit the nail as they offer something different to the average traditional Mexican fare that you find in Vancouver.

The food is good. Pretty close to what they aim for (Mexican pacific style seafood). My issue with them is that the portions are becoming smaller and pricier with time. Flavor wise is bold and tasty. Careful when you ask for additional sauces, they will charge you a hefty extra for this.

Booze is super expensive here - be especially mindful if you order a michelada as they will overcharge you for it.

The reason why you see it full all the time is because of local Mexicans: they will pay whatever it costs to get a ceviche like back home and the owner takes advantage of this. This is pretty common with any latin restaurant.

The ambiance is ok, and the service is pretty decent. Just be careful with what you order as you might end up paying way more...

I really appreciated the kind and attentive service—our server was genuinely warm, which made the experience feel welcoming. I also respect the effort and creativity that went into the dish I tried (the Chiltepin), though I personally found the flavor profile a bit too sour for my taste, which overpowered the more delicate seafood notes. At $29, I was hoping for a more filling portion or bolder balance of flavors, as the thin slices of fish and octopus left me still hungry. The ambiance felt more like a casual diner, with two different sources of loud music (one near the counter, another from a TV), which made it a bit hard to chat with my friend. That said, I only tried one dish, so I’m open to the idea that other menu items might offer a different experience. I really value thoughtful cooking and good service, and while the service here was excellent, I didn’t feel the dish I had offered strong value for the price.

We arrived without reservation, there’s always a line outside the restaurant, fortunately we only waited around 20 min to get a table, the waiter that took our order was friendly and in general the staff was ok, i think this restaurant is kind of slow food type service, the shrimp tacos were really tasty, the ceviche la playita was tasty as well but it had few octopus, the horchata and the cajeta flan amazing, the only dish we don’t enjoy that much was the Aguachile Tostada ( to much lime, the octopus and shrimp slices was to big, could be more chopped), in general everything was great, i would recommend this place for someone who wants real mexican and spicy seafood cuisine.
