Today I picked up 2 cakes from Purebread Bakery. They were delicious but the customer service was appalling. I ordered the cakes on Friday to be picked up on Sunday morning. When I arrived at the bakery there was a line up right around the corner. I got in the line up and phoned Purebread to ask if they had a pick up window. The answer I received was that I must get in the line with people who had not pre-ordered. I waited 1/2 an hour to finally get to the door. As I went to step forward I was asked to wait while a man who had not lined up picked up his order. He had just parked his car and walked straight up to the door. I complained but was told that the man who had butted in had been waiting in line. This was clearly not true. I was 30 minutes late for my function because of the wait. This is not acceptable!

May 11/ 2021 In a follow up I would like to say I have been contacted by the owner of Purebread Bakery. She expressed regret that I had experienced such an unpleasant situation. Also, she said they have put in new measures to provide a more effective way for customers who have ordered online to pick up goods. As a show of good will she refunded one of the cakes...

Purebread is one of those rare bakeries where you actually struggle to decide what to get — because everything looks (and tastes) amazing. The variety here is overwhelming in the best way: sweet, savory, vegan, gluten-free — they’ve nailed every category.

I went with the almond croissant, a slice of their chocolate zucchini loaf, and a cappuccino — and wow. The croissant was flaky with just the right amount of almond filling. The loaf was moist, rich, and not overly sweet. You can tell everything is baked fresh with high-quality ingredients and lots of care.

The space is beautiful too — modern but cozy, with great lighting and a display that pulls you in like a bakery version of a candy store. Staff are friendly, fast, and happy to walk you through the options if it’s your first time.

It’s a perfect spot whether you want a quick coffee + pastry fix, or to sit and catch up with a friend over something delicious. If you're in Vancouver and love baked goods, this place is a must.
