We had high hopes for Monarch opening in the neighbourhood (Main St.), especiallly with such a solid burger when it was located above Campagnolo or at the American. All of us ordered the dirty burger, 2 orders of fries to share, and drinks. After placing the order where the server had it all “memorized“. One person asked for no tomato and it came with it. One order of fries came with all the burgers and while we waited for the other order of fries, someone in our party looked at their burger and saw mold on the bun. They went to the counter to let the staff know, there was not even an apology or even an offer to remake a new burger. Instead they toasted a new bun and put it back on the same patty. Really? This is what Food Safe taught you? When the 2nd order of fries finally came, no side of ketchup so again we went up to the counter to ask for one. At the end of our meal, when asked whether we wanted to pay altogether or split the bill, we asked to split it 3 ways. The server decided that this was extremely inconvenient for her and she actually ROLLED HER EYES at us. Why ask in the first place?! I'm sorry that she had to push a few extra buttons and do her job! What a joke! To add to the insult, this establishment starts at a minimum of 18% tip on their machines! For what?! For moldy bread (no comp of anything from burger to fries to drinks..not one single thing) and a server rolling her eyes?!? It's too bad the service and staff are atrocious because even after all this, I would say the burgers and fries are pretty good. I hope the owners know their staff are driving this restaurant into the ground. Highly...

Making the environment more cozy and comfortable would improve the overall experience. Other burgers in the area come with fries, allow for modifications, and have more variety, unlike the burgers offered here. I don't consider a lecture delivered via a business response to a review as professional behavior.
Wow, I haven't been so disappointed by a burger in a long time. No substitutions/modifications and overpriced for a small patty. The burger tasted good, but it didn't even come with fries for $15... Nothing was done extremely well, it was just a good burger. We also enjoyed the poutine, but again, overpriced.
Standard counter service. You go up and place your order, then wait to pick up your food when the buzzer goes off.
The seating wasn't comfortable and we had to go next door to the bar for water. The vibes weren't great for a burger place, and the bar seating next door was very cramped to eat a burger at.
There are many better burger places on Main St., skip this one.

Read moreI’ve been coming to Abe’s for years and I was looking forward to this new burger place opening next door called Monarch which I understand is the same owner? But my god, I ordered a poutine and this was the worst that I’ve ever had. I paid around $15 (this is with tax and I tipped as well) for a hand full of fries and literally 3 cheese curds and a nasty 1/4 cup of cold “gravy”?? I initially thought this was a mistake so went back and politely asked for my money back. The staff refused. And then ignored me so I had no idea what was going on. Literally they refused to look at me. The lady working then said I’ll make you a new one ok!!!!? But won’t give you your money back!!! The new one was just as disappointing which I showed them. Other customers also saw and were in agreement. My pictures show both of these “poutines”. This was a joke. I’ll never give them my money after this. There are better places that will treat a customer with understanding and kindness. And also will give you a refund if you’re unhappy with the product...
