To start, the service at this Sushi Mura is impeccable. The staff are polite, efficient and carry themselves in a professional manner that would befit a fine dining establishment. The casual atmosphere is comfortable and suitable for any group imaginable with an assortment of food choice whether or not you're comfortable with raw fish or prefer cooked food. The food itself tastes fresh and of good quality so you can rest easy you won't be going home sick.

Where Sushi Mura falls short is in its execution of its food, as another reviewer posted, the rice is under-seasoned here so it lacks the subtle vinegary sweetness that you would find at a more artisan sushi restaurant. The salmon roll, often the first roll taught in one's sushi chef journey, could not hold its shape bursting out of the nori wrapping. The nigiri were nicely bite-sized however, the rice bed falls apart as you attempt to pick up the piece of sushi, something that should not happen if the rice is prepared correctly. The sashimi was thickly cut, easily an inch thick on average, but this is to its detriment. Some might believe this to be great value for the money, but such a thick cut actually causes the subtle flavours of the fish to be overpowered by the stronger flavours of natural oils and fats in the fish. The same portions prepared in thinner slices would provide for a much cleaner and enjoyable taste profile. In fact they actually had appropriate sized red snapper sashimi which were delectable.

Sushi Mura is for the diner who enjoys the style of sushi restaurant chains like Sushi California and Sushi Garden, but wants for better quality ingredients and far superior service. Only the experience and craft of its sushi chefs hold it back from being closer to the finer dining sushi experience that Vancouver-ites...

We visited this Sushi Mura restaurant for the first time during our lunch break, hoping for a smooth and enjoyable experience before heading back to work. The restaurant itself is lovely and elegant atmosphere, clean layout, and I really appreciated the ordering tablets at each table. They were super convenient and easy to use.

Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match the ambiance. Our server seemed visibly annoyed, even though we weren’t being loud or demanding, just a group of colleagues excited to try their menu. The food came out very slowly and one dish at a time, so some of us had to wait 10–15 minutes after others had already received their meals. I got my order about 10 minutes after my colleague received hers. While I was starving and dug in, I felt bad seeing others still waiting, to the point that I offered to share mine.

Towards the end, we asked to split the bill individually. I happened to pay first and tipped 15% despite the service issues. What really soured the experience, though, was when the manager approached us afterward to comment that some of my colleagues didn’t leave a tip. It felt uncomfortable and unnecessary, especially since most of us did tip, and they still received around 85% in gratuities. I understood why some chose not to tip, as their food arrived much later and the service didn’t feel welcoming.

Overall, the food was decent, but the slow pacing and off-putting vibe from staff made the experience less enjoyable than we’d hoped. Being confronted by the manager about tips, when most of us did leave one, was unprofessional and left a bad...

It's Korean style sushi which should be advertised, as everything, all sauces were literally dripping in sugar. The tuna tataki didn't have any Ponzu sauce, just a spicy sweet mayo. Spicy Salmon was done with a sweet & spicy thick syrup sauce. Gomae was drowning in a sweet sauce as well. All which is fine BUT then have it in the menu as spicy sauce (is an absolute ton of sugar). If I really like sweet everything I'm sure it would be fine. But I don't, Japanese food isn't supposed to be sweet. That's Korean food and I'm going to start asking more often now. Is this sweet style Korean?

I was originally going to leave the service empty as it's not the server's fault both the food. However, I almost forgot the fact that you have to order your own food by screen. If I have to sit there and actually do my own ordering and all they're doing is bring it out like cafeteria then why am I paying? For service that way? Still once again it is what it is but some guy there kept eyeballing me while I wiped all the sugar off my spicy salmon. After I paid and started walking out he ran over to ask me if I needed my bill, assuming that I was doing the old dine and dash cuz I obviously looked disgusting. Changed my service to one star for that reason. And extremely unimpressive place filled with unimpressive food. The ladies of the staff were just fine doing what they could with...

Sushi Mura is a relatively new sushi spot in Mount Pleasant, that had replaced the previous sushi restaurant in that location. They've renovated the space so that it looks quite nice and modern on the inside, with ordering pads at each table. There's plenty of seating, with some tables capable of serving up to 6. The sushi is fresh and tasty. When we ordered our sashimi, they served it with a little dry ice to give it an upscale look as it came out. Although their sushi doesn't re-invent the wheel, the price is fair and the service is excellent. On top of that, we had a wobbly table and the server was quick to offer to fix it for us, without us having to mention it to them. I noticed that during the time I went, many people were picking up online orders. I've never ordered from them online but it seemed like a common thing people were doing. Plenty of affordable parking outside and around the neighborhood. You can dress casual. My one comment for improvement would be to put something more interesting on their tv, other than franchising opportunities, but other than that Sushi Mura made my wife happy, so that makes me happy!

Had the Mix Combo ($18.25) for lunch. It was satisfying, but the rolls were standard and didn't stand out. It came with half a California Roll order, Dynamite Roll, Tuna Roll and Salmon Roll. The imitation crab in the California Roll could've been a bit sweeter, as it was on the plain side. The Dynamite Roll was the best roll on the plate, although the end pieces were quite messy. Overall, I thought the price point was fair for the variety of rolls. They have a large menu that includes $20 lunch specials, cooked items like udon, teriyaki and ramen, and other rolls, sashimi, etc. There is something for everyone! We came as a group of 5 for lunch on a weekday and were seated in a booth. You order on a tablet attached to the table, but they do have physical menus if needed. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, but they do have a spacious interior, and patio outside. Service was friendly and the wait for food wasn't long (longest wait for the cooked food, as expected, but it did come out piping hot). Would return if in the area!
