I was enjoying my meal too much to think about taking any pictures, but both the food and decor looked beautiful. Overall I'd say that the meal was excellent value for the quality of food and the portion sizes.
Despite "pizza" being in the name, I think the pasta is where they really shine (not that their pizza isn't also very good). While I do think there is better pasta in Vancouver, you have to spend approximately 1.5 to 2 times as much money for it, so those restaurants are better saved for really special occasions. I would call this the best pasta in the city that's still at a reasonably accessible price point, and great for a really nice meal that won't totally break the bank.
The servers were very kind and friendly. I couldn't decide between the Rigatoni dish (which had the sauce and meat I was most interested in) and the Mafalda dish (because it's my favourite shape of pasta), so they offered to substitute the Mafalda pasta to go with the rigatoni's sauce. I have no regrets about that choice and I would highly recommend the combination. I also got to sample some bites from the others at my table who ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the Fettuccini Alfredo. All of the pastas had impressively good al dente texture that can be very difficult to achieve in a baked pasta dish.
I also really appreciated the ambiance. They've set up a very clever and efficient way of using a long and narrow space, resulting in an excellent dining experience with surprisingly good acoustics. We could easily hear each other when talking at the table, without any sounds from other tables carrying over too loudly. It's far too common for restaurants to be overwhelmingly loud with no consideration to acoustics, but the folks at Napoletana Pizza have done a really great job designing the layout and setting the music at an unobtrusive volume.
I definitely want to be able to come back time and again, so I wish this restaurant success! Thank you for a really...
Read moreGot takeout pizza. I am sure the quality would have been better had I chosen to dine in, but I'm cheap and would rather put the tip money towards a nice cold beer. The crust, if there was any complaint at all, was on the soft and slightly undercooked side. Maybe that's because it was takeout, and the steam inside the box made it that way. The pizza was delicious, and toppings were generous. The seafood pizza and the one with arugula really stood out. I actually don't know what the names of the pizzas were as I let this Diva surprise me. Italian omakase! What stood out more than the taste and the quality of the ingredients that were used was the service from the person who took my order over the phone. Her name, and I am sure I am going to butcher it, was Diva or maybe Adiva. She convinced me over the phone that this is the place that I should get my pizza from. She was polite, playful, humorous, charming all the positive words I could come up with, and just sound like a hard-working, super honest, good human. After the initial banter over the phone, she somehow managed to sell me three pies. Even though this was only takeout, it ranks high up there on one of the more memorable eating experiences. This imperfect stream of events from order taking, to not fully answering my questions over the phone, to receiving the slightly damp pizza somehow coalesced and formed a perfect evening of pizza with a reclusive hermit friend of mine. Only time will tell, but I believe this will be one of those indelible dine out experiences. We dont need any more divas in the world, but I will make an exception for this Diva or Adiva or whatever her name was. Thank you for making my...
Read moreI’ve driven past this place a few times and was always curious about it. Tonight, I was just looking for a spot to have a glass of wine and a good Caesar salad, so I decided to finally check it out. I went with my 11-year-old daughter, and from the moment we walked in, it had a cozy, modern feel. The chairs were very comfortable too, which is always a nice touch.
I ordered a glass of red wine, a Caesar salad, and a pepperoni pizza. The wine came in these beautiful goblet glasses, and the whole wine list was Italian, which was cool. The Caesar salad had homemade croutons, and yes I could tell right away they were made in-house. Then the pizza came out, piping hot straight from the oven, with gooey cheese, a fresh crust, and high-quality ingredients all around.
Our server was on top of everything and did it all with a smile. He made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. You could tell he really cared about making the experience great.
While talking to him, I found out this is actually their second location. Their first spot is a pizza place on 10th and Arbutus near Fletcher’s...if you know, you know. That 10th and Arbutus pizza spot has been around forever! I love seeing family-run businesses grow, and you can tell they care about quality. I also noticed they have a little bar at the front, so if you just wanted somehwere to grab a cocktail, by yourself... you could sit there.
Apparently, they also make their pasta fresh, which makes me even more excited to come back. The prices were really on par (or better) compared to a lot of other restaurants in the city. I’ll definitely be back, and I’ll be telling my friends...
