Beautiful place for instagram or other SNS. Quite good bar selection and food is not bad, looks good though.

*I understand Covid-19 makes difficult for dine-in service and you might know same as me.

There is no waiting zone so have to waiting outside with cold weather till they cleaned up table then manager just shake hand from inside over the window to make us come in. It's like all the servers and manager pretty nervous and couldn't make enough service experience well. It was Sunday lunch so everyone expecting busy but also restaurant can expecting same thing so wish they can be prepared more details.

I can see there is 2 doors for entrance so how about using one for Enter and other one for Exit? Tables are separate with clear panels but I guess there is some way to make better idea for entrance.

Foods are not bad we had Two signature Pho, and daily special spring roll. It was good broth and well balanced, but when I ordered Beef Rib Pho because I saw several pictures of it, I want grab a beef rib by my hand and eating chunky beef meat on the bones.

As you can see my picture looks nice there is huge Beef rib bone in the bowl but that thing is just bone. Nothing on it and most biggest problem is it was STONE COLD BONE. I was shocked what I never expected feels like just regular beef Pho and put on a cold stone beef rib bone in the bowl for make looks nice and fancy but that's not a good idea.

As I mentioned it, it's hard to make good service for during this pandemic but there is something more like details what they missing it.

Wish they keep going well and one day I can get better experience with them.

‐--------------------------------

Thanks for the update from management about what I mentioned it.

If you think your team never get nervous and always doing great for customers there is nothing to say for you.

For Beef rib Pho, I understand with that reasonable issue but in otherwise it shouldn't be cold bone. Bowl is hot with nice warm enough soup but when I grab that stone cold bone is not what I expected.

I also see other reviews has some entering issues. I can understand because of Covid-19 protection is important and probably everyone know that. But there might be better way to make customers happy for waiting outside and entering this nice atmosphere for dine-in.

I know this restaurant doing well and work hard since open after pandemic and that's why we want to more figure out to good way to customers happy.

Thanks for...

Despite the high praise Bonjour Vietnam receives from social media influencers and the Michelin guide, which describes it as “somewhere between a tropical greenhouse and a nightclub”, one should not be swayed by its glamorous decor and sophisticated ambiance. The restaurant’s offerings are far from the authentic or unique Vietnamese cuisine one might expect, and it seems to hold more value for its photogenic qualities than its culinary ones, and that too at a steep price.

Priced at about three times the cost of a meal at a neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant, Bonjour Vietnam struggles to deliver food quality that matches its upscale interior and high price tag. As echoed in numerous previous reviews, many of our food items arrived colder than anticipated. This could be due to the servers’ apparent inability to handle the dinner rush or a lack of oversight from the kitchen (they could also just be building a rocket back there who knows). Regardless of the reason, both the grilled whole squid and honey garlic chicken wings were served at room temperature, with the servers showing little concern.

As for the pho, a Vietnamese restaurant that fails to perfect one of the cuisine’s core dishes is, unfortunately, what Bonjour Vietnam has become. To start, the short rib pho took 42 minutes to arrive after we were seated, a feat even a street vendor would find challenging. This lengthy wait time was exacerbated by the fact that the meat was overcooked, the soup was cold, and the noodles were clumped together. Moreover, when the dish was returned to the kitchen, the servers seemed bewildered and offered to replace the soup on the already overcooked meat and noodles.

In conclusion, while I acknowledge that a certain audience may appreciate the dimly lit and well-decorated environment and disregard any bad qualities with the food, Bonjour Vietnam falls short and does not merit its current rating for the majority of Vancouverites who are looking for a night out. It seems that the restaurant’s food quality has declined since it was spotlighted by the Michelin Guide, and it has now transformed into something that only Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares could salvage.

I would advise skipping this one. Your money would likely be better spent at a neighborhood pho place that isn’t striving to be a trendy downtown restaurant. It also wouldn't be surprising to see Bonjour Vietnam be dropped off the Michelin...

Bonjour Cheap…

The owner(s) sure loves to trick people.. where’s the noodles?!

Reward goes to them for #1 smallest portion of pho noodles in the entire world. $15 for less than what you get in a pack of instant noodles. It was not even “high” quality which was the saddest part!! :( All you leave here with is a dry-mouth full of MSG.

They also wrap the salad rolls extremely tight with plastic wrap so it was barely noticeable which also made it very difficult to remove. It was also very tiny compared to all of the Vietnamese restaurants and cafes here in Vancouver. Also not any better quality than any other Vietnamese spots. :(

Sugarcane shrimp was very delicious. The sugarcane stick was full of juice! :) $5 per stick though is just sadly ridiculous.

I paid a total of $35 for what should’ve really been $24-$26 at max.

Overall, despite the restaurant itself having a lot of decorations and friendly + quick staff..

The pricing here in return for what you receive is completely tax.

I recommend for anyone who is reading this review to go to Cafe Dang Anh, Mr. Red Cafe, or any other Vietnamese spot along Victoria Dr. Between E 33rd & 41st. $35 will go a long way and will be worth it all around :)

“AUTHENTIC” spots actually worth your time and $$$:

Cafe Xu Hue — “BEST” Bun Bo Hue Cafe Dang Anh — “BEST” Bun Rieu Cha Ca (Crab Meat & Fish Cake) Vermicelli Green Lemongrass — “BOMB” Lemongrass Chicken My Chau — “BEST” Pho Ga (Chicken Soup) & Crispy Chicken Mr. Red Cafe — Unique appetizers, Amazing variety, Decent decor as well as plating for IG Thanh Xuan Cafe — “BEST” Banh Cuon ‘Rice Rolls’ in town

Hoi An Cafe — “GOOD” variety of unique small appetizers and “TASTY” Pho as well

Highly recommend their 11. Com bo kho as well as the 3. Tapioca dumplings Very proper portions and truly authentic :)

Pho Duy — “GOOD” Pho :)

No quality nor quality. Just greed. The owner should be ashamed!

Definitely structured to fool people out of their hard earned money.

Even Gold Train 24 Hour Express on Kingsway & Joyce is...

Bonjour definitely had really colourful and fun decor. However i found the overall food to be meh as the taste was underwhelming and the portions were quite small. Apologies for the dark photo as their lighting was on the dimmer side for a moody ambiance. We ordered the Beef Rib Pho as well as the Fine Vermicelli with lemongrass beef. Starting with the beef rib pho, the beef was very tender but there were only a couple of pieces. I also found the broth to be on the saltier side. Like many reviews said, do not expect a huge bowl of pho at other vietnamese restaurants. $25 for a beef of pho is definitely on the pricey side and Bonjour’s version definitely did not make it worthwhile or justifiable for this price tag compared to other pricier beef pho’s i had like at Lunch Lady or Linh Cafe. The fine vermicelli was pretty underwhelming for me too. Maybe i was expecting a typical vermicelli bowl and what i had was more like a DIY salad roll situation minus the rice papers. The server let me know that i can eat the ingredients separately or i can use the lettuce as a wrap for the vermicelli, vegetables and the beef. As for the beef, i also did not expect it to be grounded beef skewers wrapped on lemongrass sticks. After i finished this $23 plate of vermicelli, i was still hungry. Overall, the price you pay for is definitely for the ambiance and not so much the quality or portion of food. Their menu was also quite small so there weren’t a lot of options either, meanwhile their drink menu was quite extensive. As a side note, the hygiene of the restaurant can also be improved as my table and menus were both sticky. Personally i don’t think i will visit again, however it may be for people who are looking for a cute place for a drink.
