Hello & welcome to this ODD cafe which has a BIG lotta attitude from people serving you & who can ruin your day 👏
Let’s put up am honest review for this hyped up 4.9 star cafe which we are never gona come back again 🤡
It was our Day 3/5 of Vancouver & being coffee freaks, this was our 3rd cafe (the worst one to be precise), 26th july ~1:30 pm
1stly, no name outside the cafe (which becomes tricky to figure out for visitors)
Ok, that’s not a biggie
2ndly, we ordered 2 iced lattes in Oat milk We like it & PREFER ALWAYS less ice!
Oh the man taking the order felt like he was in a delusional state of mind, probable delusion of grandeur, it was SO hard to communicate with him because everything what we said seemed like a problem to him!! Was he the owner or manager- well, idc ! He seemed quite arrogant ! My partner asked about the beans being Arabica as he said they use different coffee beans every couple of days!
We wanted to make sure the coffee was not a FRUITY note, but again he replied “oh, coffee beans are obviously Arabica” 😂 with quite a lot of TONE
OKAY, i was gona make him listen this, but I didn’t, but….. there are 4 types of coffee beans 😁!
Ok coming back to the order- SO, the barista fills up LESS than 3/4th of the small glass (this is what they serve in), considering we ordered LESS ICE
That means you pay for Ice at this cafe for iced coffees
Hence we asked if he could fill it up a bit as it looked quite less!
& he replied “we are a local business & this is HOW we serve & the quantity matters to us” LOL BUT THIS is NOT HOW I PREFER it !!
Being a cafe, Not being understanding about a customer’s need & being super rigid about their policy (oh yes, he said THIS IS OUR POLICY 😂😂) isn’t going to take them a long way!
Ok so adding 30 ml -50 ml more milk is NOT your policy ??!!🤣 Gosh !!
Weido cafe, VERY weird people
If the person likes it Extra hot, extra ice, less ice etc, it is THEIR choice! If you want to stick to naive policies, then you are not being considerate towards a customer !
Also, PLEASE put up a SMILE 😊, WOULD HELP you & the customers !!
There are SO many other cafes around- Eg- Revolver - Hah they served us full glass with less ice 😂 BOO !!
Good luck & thanks for not being nice to visitors 😏
Highly NOT recommended !!!!!!!!

It was always so nice to go there, sit, listen to their music, they even used to have a little section on a table with amazing books from Japan, I remember they even had a cool magazine about houses in Japan that kept me like 2 hrs reading it there. The coffee was excellent and the matcha was wow! I literally brought all my friends every time because it was amazing, minimalist and had a really nice vibe with a really nice community, sometimes I would even sit with my girlfriend just to look at people's outfits having coffee there. It was the best.
Now with the new location I am very happy for them, because they seem to be doing amazing, which means they have a better business, and is great, but it has completely lost what it used to be.
Starting from the fact that the new staff working there are really bad at making matcha, poorly done. And the same with coffee. And they put up their prices $2/$3 more
It's impossible to sit down, I missed when they used to have this very long table and it was so nice to share it with other people, now you really need to fight for a small room or even sit with other people. It sucks. It is simply impossible to stay more than 10 minutes because then you see other people standing and you feel bad using the place.
And lastly, this is not related to them, but it's hard to go there and be surrounded by white ppl after yoga class, being so loud and annoying. No more cool, nice people with amazing styles.
I hope it can change a little to be more than it used to be, because the location is great. I find it very difficult to drink a matcha...

Oide Coffee has been on my radar for so long now, even before their move to their new location on W 2nd. I loved their minimalistic decor and vibe, and from all I heard, their coffee was damn good too.
When you walk into their new space, on your right, you see their beautiful brewing station and a display case filled with pastries. Everything is illuminated by the natural light that comes through the large glass window. As you work your eyes up to the menu on the back wall, you see there are just three choices:
BLACK (espresso/americano) WHITE (espresso + milk) GREEN (matcha + milk)
The menu might seem oversimplified, but as you stare at it a little longer, you realize those three categories neatly encapsulate all of the typical beverages you would see at a cafe. At the end of the day, it's a ratio of coffee, water/steam, and milk!
Once you pick up your drinks, you can go down a small flight of stairs into their seating area. It's extremely open and stripped back. The floors and walls are mostly exposed concrete and the seating consists of benches and stools that can be moved around into an infinite number of configurations.
This coffee shop feels like a little piece of Tokyo plucked right up and dropped conveniently near Granville Island. Oide Coffee is so chill and laid back, but with the perfect amount of energy and excitement. I really enjoyed my experience and I can't wait to...
