Old School Teppanyaki Restaurant. This place has been around at this location now for about two decades. My family and I reserved part of a table for dinner on a Saturday night recently. We were one of the first diners to check in when it opened at 5:30 pm. We were seated sharing a table with a family of five, 3 adults and 2 kids under 10. Not so comfortable for me as the youngest of the 2, a little girl of 4 years was my seat mate. She squirmed & fidgeted during the whole dinner including kicking me with her shoes. Not fun. I regretted not asking her father to change seats with her.
We decided to treat ourselves to some entrees that we don't typically order: the seafood combo for me, the steak & tiger prawns for my husband the filet Mignon for our son and a side order of their tasty fried rice. The chef amused the table by showing off for the kids with the lighted onion pyramid & alcohol trick and then catching the chopped appetizer prawn tails with his chefs hat. There was no fancy knife work or bouncing the pepper grinder off the grill under the dancing strobe light for show or effect. Some of our fried rice was doled out to the other family sharing our table who didn't order this dish. The chef's cooking skill was efficient and in an orderly manner depending on which entrees were ready first. It appears that chef turnover between tables have to be efficient in order to serve the other awaiting tables. Therefore the Teppanyaki show gets cut to a minimum. Our seafood and steaks were cooked to our preferences. Our entrees included soup, salad, appetizer shrimp, main proteins and vegetable fillers served with their signature ginger and mustard dipping sauces on the side. Total bill came to $160 after tip and GST. Pretty steep for an underwhelming Teppanyaki dining experience. Thankfully we didn't order cocktails this time. All the tables were packed by the time we left. Service from the wait staff was very good. Lighting is low and the din from the other tables can be too noisy to carry a conversation with your own dinner companions. It'll be a long while before we...
Read moreThis place is a quite low-end Teppanyaki restaurant own and run by Chinese instead of Japanese. Chefs are from international background. Don't expect a real Japanese Teppanyaki chef.
If you want a casual dine out, this place might be alright; however don't put any hope on quality of food and the skill of a real Teppanyaki chef.
Our dining experience is not very impressive.
Chefs stacks plate of raw food ingredients with bottom of plates sitting right on another plate of ingredients below causing contamination.
Our chef dropped food outside of hot plate, onto work surface, and simply scooped them back onto the hot plate and continue cooking like nothing had happened.
Our chef was coughing all along cooking without turning around or covering mouth and nose.
He made a mess on the hot plate and dinning table trying to show off tossing an egg in mid air to catch with his cooking blades but missed the egg by at least 2-3 inches. Splashed some customers and added bonus ingredient to our food ...... Egg Shell pieces.
We were really not impressed.
The price is sitting at the low side of average Teppanyaki restaurants; average $40 per person without alcohol, $55+ per person with alcohol.
After all, you get what you pay for.

Read moreWe came here for Valentine's day dinner. Family of 3 with a 5 yr old. I mentioned it to the host that I have a child, not knowing if that would make a difference. We were sat with a bunch of annoying, obnoxious patrons that were screaming the chefs name because apparently they come here so often they think they are buddies. Chef could care less. Over in a corner I saw a family of 3 with a kid sitting at a table of 9 by themselves. Wish we were sat there, but it was too late. Our order was in. The prices are decent. I got chicken teriyaki with shrimp and all the veggies, rice, salad and soup for $36.00. I was Soo full I had to take majority of it home. My kid ordered from the kids menu and received the same order just smaller, for $16. I don't know if our chef was so thrown off by the screeching of the other patrons that he didn't really put on a "show". Yes he did the fire thing with the onion tower. He did do the shrimp tail toss to the hat but we almost missed that as he didn't grab our attention. It was like watching your uncle on the BBQ, just waiting for you food while he has a flair up here and there. No knife show like the other chefs at the other stations did. Food was decent. Shrimp was nice but chicken was just covered in sweet sauce. Will come here again on a less busy day to see if my experience...
