Please read the owners response to me; My response TO YOU THE PUBLIC will be BOLDED (within her response) to my review. The entire story will soon be available on my Instagram and TikToc! I will provide links shortly. Obviously, the owners response says everything about her character and nothing about mine. So sad for her that her conduct and moral fibre is so poor...and this is why she attacks. She also has a long history of attacking employees so do read up on it. You will never support this business under this ownership Very, very long history she has of this behaviour... Solly's, I have screenshot your response so when you remove it, it will follow you! Very poor choice you decided to make in going after me!
Removing the meat from the paper bags, yes paper, the smell overcame me. I had asked for 300 grams of smoked meat, as the sign said. It is not smoked meat. This is wet brined meat and I don't know if Pastrami or Corned beef as it is nasty bad. Regardless, it could have POISONED us! I phoned and got the run around trying to avoid my question: "Do you sell Smoked meat or Pastrami or both?" The man and woman would not answer me until I became very aggressive and demanded an answer. The answer was "it's actually Pastrami and Corned beef that we have". What the hell is going on? Solly's on Broadway we will never ever return to for reasons in my review there, and now Main Street. And the Main Street location is just as filthy. I don't know how this woman, for all the reasons known to mankind, can still have any business left. You can only do this so many times before you have no customers and by the looks of the Main Street location she has no business. I will be going to the Broadway location tomorrow for the full refund as Main says they will tell them. I will let you all know what happens when I return as I was told I could, and whether or not they keep their word. Apparently food safety is still of no concern to any of...
Read moreGood staples terrible customer service .. getting slightly better though.
I love me some bagels, lox and cream cheese so I’m always here getting that, and some pickles...and Fridays,, iI’ve been getting a Challah.
The odd time though,, i really just want to get one of the eggle de lox sandwich’s or maybe a rusty eggle. For those unfamiliar with this item,, it is basically egg and pastrami on a bagel,,, its fabulous,, all of their eggles are. BUT, I would rather starve then have to deal with a lot of their past staff.
I usually feel like the staff hate their job, hate me, and would rather be anywhere else. It sucks because Solly’s’ has the best cream cheese in the city BY Far and is two seconds from my house. But, I try and spend as little time as possible in the store. I could potentially be buying soooo much more, but yeah again, their staff has been pretty bad so I have been avoiding it.
I was soo happy when down the street opened Brekka,,, they make the BEST challah in town. Ill do a review on that next.
To sum it up, the food is ok, the challah comes in 2nd place, and the staff is a dead last.
Edit/ my review stands ! Brekkq down the street makes a way better chalah but it’s a convenient place to get a bagel, log and cream cheese or rusty Eagle hot off the press. The menu hasn’t changed in a gazillion years. You know what you’re gonna get it’s quick and dirty, not dirty as in unclean, with mediocre service and...
Read moreI usually go to the Solly's near Cambie. My friend has a craving for cinnamon buns and asked if I wanted to go. He introduced me to a new location in Main St.. It was closer to us and had parking, he drives. I don't. Same food, good taste, I had a cinnamon bun, a doggle and a grape juice. They are GOOD cinnamon buns...7 out of 10 on the cinnamon bun scale! :-) I recommend you don't get it without the cream cheese icing, I forgot and it was a little too dry. My friend saved me with half of his. Great food! I don't think I'll go back to this location, though. The staff were helpful and nice, but the building structure was dingy and it didn't feel clean like the Solly's near Cambie. There was seating, and a couple colorful characters including my friends and I were there and it has a nice little community feeling. I just couldn't get past the dingy-ness of the store because the Solly's near Cambie seems so high quality and clean and open. Like I said, I won't deny the food and service is great. Other than the location it's a nice little spot for some kosher treats and bagels with schmeer....my preference would be to go to the Solly's near Cambie...
