This cafĂ© is my absolute favorite! Their coffee is top-notch, and I especially love their affogato—it’s unbelievably good, especially in the summer. The combination of rich espresso and creamy ice cream is just perfection. Every time I get it, it feels like a special treat. The quality of their coffee is always consistent, and I’ve never been disappointed. One thing to keep in mind is that the affogato flight (three small servings) has recently gone up in price by about $2. While it’s still worth it for the taste and experience, it’s something to be aware of. Despite the price increase, I still find myself coming back because the flavors and quality make it completely worth it. The biggest downside is the seating—it’s always packed, and finding a spot, especially on weekends, is nearly impossible. Most of the time, I just get my coffee to go, but I really wish I could sit down and enjoy the cozy atmosphere more often. The café’s dĂ©cor is beautiful, and it’s the kind of place where you’d love to relax with your drink, but unfortunately, seats are hard to come by. That being said, I still highly recommend this place! The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the quality of everything they serve is fantastic. If you’re a coffee lover, this cafĂ© is a must-visit. Just be prepared for the seating challenge, or plan to take your coffee to go like...

Food/Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Over the past year or so, the quality of Aperture’s food/drinks and service has deteriorated to such a degree that I feel compelled to leave this updated review.

I ordered a matcha latte. It took 10 minutes despite there only being one customer before me. When the barista handed me my drink, it was cold. The barista stared and replied “ok sorry” after being informed of the same. I also informed the cashier that it was cold, and they responded “oh sorry”. There was no offer to re-make my drink, nor was there an offer of a refund. I felt like a jerk, but I couldn’t justify spending $10 on a cold latte and reluctantly requested a refund, which made me feel like a Karen.

The last three occasions ordering the breakfast croissant have been disappointing and expensive. It used to be delicious and made with care. Now, the ingredients are scant and thrown together in a clump and not spread out like a proper sandwich.

My original review from approximately 3 years ago gave Aperture 5 stars and high praise. I am sorry to be giving such a negative review, but it is truly sad that Vancouver’s once-greatest coffee shops has fallen this far. I hope this review will help to galvanize Aperture towards improvement.

The ambience and decor continue to...

-1 star to the service from the Asian face server. *No stereotype because I’m also Asian. But I only know she has Asian face, she refused to tell her name. She firstly didnt respond to any greeting or asking. Secondly, she made our order wrong by giving only 1 ounce of whiskey. We double confirm whether this is 1 or 2 ounce. She said 2 ounces, but we did see her only pour 1 once in cup. We understand they are not familiar with the recipe, but don’t lie
🙄She was rude comparing with the other girl who always smile and trying to help and serve us. Example: she never said thank you or hello or bye when we purchase or order or ask something. This is the worst experience we had during Vancouver trip. đŸ˜€ Vibe: 👍the vibe is good, but dark and filled with motorcycle chars, don’t recommend for studying or working but chatting. Food: 👎don’t order any alcohol!!! Nobody orders that, so servers have no idea on the recipe. 👎Matcha is the worst matcha I have ever had! 👎Don’t recommend food either, we ordered full breakfast for $17, all meat and potato is from frozen to reheat
👍Avocado is fresh, sour cream is also good to taste. 👍jazz music...

Very lovely little cafe! Good vibes, and people are friendly. We happen to be there on a Friday when they had the jazz event at the back room. We didn’t realise that we needed to buy the tickets beforehand to attend, and the tickets were all sold out at the time. But you can still enjoy the music nonetheless. The espresso milk shake and sandwiches were delicious! Highly recommended.
