I just recently visited this place and I found it to be a little unwelcoming, I ordered some food which ended up costing me $22 which was one mango roll one yam tempura roll and two salmon nagri. I then asked if I could have some tempura sauce for my Yum tempura roll, the woman asked me did I order tempura and I said I would’ve the Yum temporal, then she said to me I would have to pay an additional one dollar for a small amount of tempura sauce. A California roll there is $4.50 which I suppose is with an average but it’s still a little pricey. I have the mango roll that I had was not too bad the mango was in season so it was a really good flavour they had some kind of Teriyaki sauce on top and it came with mayonnaise and on the menu it comes with Fish eggs. I asked for it without. I was happy to see that when I got my order I didn’t have the fish eggs as I do not like the texture of the fish eggs. However the presentation was a little messy but the food was actually pretty good. The part that I was upset with is that if I asked for some tempura sauce I would have to pay an additional dollar for that even though normally these places give a tiny little container that’s about the equivalent of like 15 mL. Or something that’s the amount of 15 mL a dollar is far over a price for something like that, I would’ve gladly paid $.25 or something like that but I will not pay a dollar for 15 mL of liquid. The inside of the restaurant was clean and tidy and there was a seating area as you walk into the door just immediately to your right. The offputting part of this restaurant is that there’s $8 minimum down in fee instead of just allowing yourself to dine in regardless of how much you’re paying. It almost made it sound like it wasn’t worth their time to have you come in for just a California roll and a pop. I’m giving this place a three star as opposed to a five because the atmosphere was clean and the food was decent although I’m not giving it anymore because the food was overpriced for what the flavour actually brought to the table. The price should’ve been more like $3.75 for California roll and $8.95 - $9.75for the mango roll that I had. However I’m betting that that mango roll was probably $12.50 - $13.35, The yam tempura roll I’m guessing was also in the $4.50 range because I got a pop and, two salmon nagri and the whole thing came up to $22. Other sushi restaurants I’ve gone to usually run me About 18 bucks for what I just purchased. And the flavour is significantly better. I found the food over all blend but sufficiently tasty because I ate the...

I used to try new things, go out, and adventure. Well, Sushi Go has shown me why I used to do that. I expected just a run-of-the-mill Vancouver sushi place. I have been to so many before. But I had a spark in me for some reason and said to myself, let's just go to a new place. Even if it is awful, let's just do something new. Well, this place is not run of the mill. I ordered double what I would normally order because of their menu selection (I should have asked, why is the menu set up that way, but as you will soon read, no regrets), and thought I would be bringing home some 持ち帰り. Nope. I ate all of it. It was that good. And I ate too fast. But it was that good. I don't do reviews usually. But I had to do this one. And the added-value aspect of my adventure, was the owner/chef. I am older so しぶい probably means a different thing to those in their 20s to 30s, but he was しぶい from my perspective. Anyway, it is not your typical sushi place. It is not a normal menu. I did not seek it out but just wandered in because I wanted something new. I am really surprised with this 偶然 discovery. I found it to be a hidden gem, and I will be back. Try it out. If you disagree with the review, let me know because I would be interested in seeing any difference in experience.

Post Edit: I did not actually read other reviews before posting. Quickly, Jubi, I get what you are saying. Please go back. My only advice, try to engage with them behind the counter, they will respond and it will be worth it. The best way I can describe the environment, and this is probably a not very good description by me as I think it deserves better, is that it is a stolid 男前 (Otokomae) sort of place. But all customers will be treated fairly and respectfully I think. I am going to keep going back so if I am wrong, I will post. But I have a really good feeling...

As someone who's been eating sushi my whole life, this is one of the worst places I've been too. Any reviews that say how great the food is here obviously don't know much about sushi. First off, the prices here are equivalent to a nice downtown restaurant. If your not careful you'll end up spending well over $20 per person for lunch. The sushi it's self is small and the rice is dry. This place is trying to save money at every chance it gets. If you don't order over $8, you're not even allowed to eat in the restaurant. I've been coming here about once a year for the past 6 years or so just to see if this place still exists and sadly it does. Miso soup is watered down, beef teriyaki is the driest and worst I've ever had, they add more onions than beef to make the helping look bigger, sushi combos are ridiculously over priced and the staff stare at you when your eating the food. Nothing tastes fresh it all tastes like it's prepared the night before and stored in the fridge. The reviews saying how fresh the food is much be talking about the water.

The only reason this place is still here is because there are no other sushi places in the area, it's the only one. Do yourself a favour and...

The setting and name of the place make it seem like one of those cheap, unauthentic fast food quality sushi places. The food is anything but. Prices may seem a bit higher than other sushi places with similar settings/decor. I think the food quality is worth the price. I have eaten here periodically throughout the years and always enjoy the food. (Would come more often if it is not out of my way) They are one of the few places that have been serving aburi nigiris before it was made popular /well known by other high end Japanese restaurants. The ingredients they use taste very fresh. Properly made tamago. Salmon toro aburi just melted in my mouth and seasoned just right. Good rice/toppings/filling ratios. There are too any sushi places out there trying to make their sushi rolls bigger by stuffing them with fake crabs/cucumbers and/or by simply putting too much rice in. I always eat here if I am in the neighbourhood.

My husband's favourite local sushi restaurant. He always says it's wildly underrated on Google reviews, but doesn't bother leave a comment. So here I am. His fav is salmon aburi don, slightly seared rich fatty salmon melted in the mouth. He ordered chicken tempura don this time, he said it was also delicious that he left a small portion as his late night meal. My fav is deluxe assorted onigiri combo #28. I like fresh fish and diversity, and it's chef special so it's never the same. There are other restaurants called Sushi Go, so I had a peek at this one's Facebook page, the chef looks passionate to me, which I appreciate a lot. Downside is no delivery, only pickup. A lot more choices in that square, burgers/pizzas/pho/Chinese food, I think it's not fair to compare the prices. When we were around and looking for some simple healthy food, this is the pick.

Saba is my favorite sashimi fish, and Sushi Go's saba is among the best in Vancouver. Also loved their taiyaki with the side of mango ice cream and topped with berries. Service was prompt and welcoming. The restaurant is in a strip mall, so it doesn't exactly have strong ambience, but where Sushi Go excels is in the quality of their fresh fish. So if all you're going to order are like, dynamite rolls and tempura, you'll be missing out on the best of Sushi Go. Get the nigiri, the sashimi, the unique desserts. Oh, also they carry Orion beer, which, if you like lighter lagers, is a great one.
