Visited The London Fish, located on The Drive, back in May 2025 because I was looking for some good fish and chips. Ordered the Cod and Chips ($17.99). It had a crisp coating and the fish was meaty but a bit on the dry inside. The coleslaw was disappointingly limp and the tartar was very thin and weak (reminded me of ranch sauce?). The Fried Oysters ($18.99) were smallish oysters but were ok. Unfortunately, the dipping sauce needs work as it had no flavour to it. We also ordered a couple of London Fogs ($5.95 each). When we first tasted it, we knew something was wrong because it tasted off. We asked if they gave us London Fog and they said yes. Then we said it tasted like coffee. And the person said yes, we put a little coffee in there. With what was probably a confused look on our faces, we said that London Fog doesn't have coffee in it... just tea. And that we don't drink coffee. And they brushed it off saying that it's just a little coffee. Seriously thought she was trying to gaslight us... who the heck puts coffee in a London Fog?? Obviously, we didn't finish our drinks and they never offered to make the London Fogs properly. They did give us a discount for the drinks at the end but definitely not coming back here.

Update: I had been going here for about 10 years. Last time in March. I went today with the same friend And it really wasn't good :( The service was great as always and she has been there as long I remember, but the prices went suddenly way up. They don't have the one/two cod special anymore :( Their menu changed :( The cod was good but the salmon didn't taste like salmon, kind of tasteless :( They always had great skinny fries and now they have bigger fries which are just average :( Very disappointing experience and that for a higher price :( We will not come back until the owner will reply to our comment, change the fries back to what they have been and bring the cod deals back. PS.: I heard the have a new owner. Customers don't care about a new name, sign,... they loved the place for it's good food and deals, what did the new owner thought would happen if they change that??...

Windjammers review This place is great! The service is friendly & fast. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The place is clean & quiet. The decor has a wonderfully old, East Vancouver 1980s feel to it. A lady who helped me (she might’ve been the owner) said they’ve been in the owners of this restaurant for about 13 years but that the restaurant itself has been around for 50 years. It kind of looks that way in a really awesome, nostalgic way. I got the 2x 8-ounce cod with soup (the options were soup, which was New England clam chowder, or fries)… then asked for fries. The cod was great (beer-battered) & the fries were good too. The soup was good enough though not the thick kind. Perhaps more salt would improve it. Still, I left satisfied. I’ll be going there again.

Worst fish and chips I have ever gotten, absolute rude service - will never return!!! (LONG POST) Myself and 3 friends bought 2 pieces of fish and chips from Windjammer. The lady that served us at the start was polite enough. Got our fish and chips take away and started driving home. We all opened our take away boxes during the car ride home and was shocked to see what we got. Maybe 20/30 fries? They were disgusting and didn’t seem fresh at all. We asked for extra fries instead of coleslaw, so would hate to see how much we would’ve gotten if we didn’t ask for that! Our fish tasted like.... absolutely nothing - more bland than white rice! And the portion sizes were tiny. I tried finishing eating my fish, but couldn’t because it made me feel so sick so I didn’t even touch my fries.. as I’m almost finished my fish, I find a hair! I was disgusted, but by this time we were all already home so I thought it wouldn’t be worth calling to get my money back so I just took it on the chin. My 2nd friend took one bite of the fish and couldn’t continue, so she started eating her chips... until she ALSO found a hair in her food! At the same time my 3rd friend had JUST finished mostly all of his food.. until he found a DOG HAIR on the bottom of his food!! My 4th friend hardly touched his but picked at his chips and fish only to find ANOTHER HAIR IN HIS! By this time we were all were so mad and decided to call to ask if we can get our money back. The guy that answered the phone was shocked with what I said but was also rushed, he told me to bring the food back for money back and then hung up on me. I called back and asked again if that would be okay, he said yes but he’s very busy and hung up on me again... SO we drove all the way back in with our half eaten fish and chips and spoke with the lady again. She said she will offer 25% back. I said, no we drove all the way back and we were told we would get an entire refund. She the said how about 50% back, I said no, again we were told we would get a full refund and that’s why we came back in. The lady then completely changed her tone and started yelling at us calling us LIARS and that she does not believe that there could be hair in all of them. At this point we are all shocked, we certainly would not lie about this, then to be called liars and that we werent telling the truth infront of other customers at the shops. She then literally THREW half of the full amount at me in notes and ignored us completely while we were trying to explain the situation. She went in and spoke to the guy in the kitchen and we heard her yelling saying that we must be lying that couldn’t be true, and for him to come out and deal with it because she didn’t have time, he came out and said yes that’s fine give give them the money back. She stormed back and again THREW another note at us. We were still missing a few coins and to make a point we waited longer for her to give us the coins. She stormed away from us and kept ignoring us, while we were saying that we are still short and aren’t leaving until it’s sorted. She then came back again and again THREW the coins at us and didn’t say a word. We left completely shocked, and told her that she should definitely not be talking to or treating customers like this and definitely not call us liars! We understand that things happen and hair can get in food, whenever this has happened in the past at a professional restaurant they act mature and apologise and offer a refund, BUT to be spoken to like that has completely turned us off ever going to this place again. So be prepared to be called a liar if you ever find hair in or anything wrong...

A very mid experience. Our family went on a rainy Father's Day around noon and we were looking forward to warming up with some nice clam chowder with our fish and chips. Nope, didn't have any chowder. Tried ordering some mushy peas - nope, again they didnt have any. Okay so how about a nice cream ale to go with the fish and chips we ordered - nope, all out. They suggested we try mint peas instead and they were literally just warm peas with green flakes, no mint taste whatsoever. We opted to upgrade our fries for a dollar to parmesan fries and it was literally the powdered parmesan cheese you get from a jar dumped on regular fries - definitely not like any other place that serves parmesan fries. The fish was solid although nothing special. The only real pro for this restaurant is the price of the fish and chips - most definitely the cheapest I've seen compared to other places. Service was very friendly I'll give them that but there were way too many issues for us to...
