Been here a couple times but today I had the worst customer service experience of my life. Was going to grab a quick snack with a friend and when we went in, there werenāt a many options except for two pre-made sandwiches sitting in plastic packaging boxes.
I had picked one of them up to buy it, but quickly decided to check out another place instead first as I wasnāt 100% set on what was inside the sandwich, so I put it back. The owner came from the back around the cash register and started scolding me for touching the box and putting it back? She told me I couldnāt touch it⦠Iām confused because there was no signage in the store saying that if I touch something (mind you it was wrapped in fully protective plastic packaging) that I should buy it.
At this rate they shouldnāt allow customers to touch the door handle, or credit card machines, or the counters, or virtually anything really.
I am sincerely regretful that I brought my friend here to witness what was the most absurd confrontation of my entire life.
P.S. The sandwiches here are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYeah you're right. This is where Emeri Matcha is. Itās a weekend-only pop-up from 8 to 4 I believe. I came around 3pm, waited about 15ā20 minutes, which honestly isnāt bad considering every matcha cafe in Vancouver seems to have a line.
I got the classic matcha with oat milk (default, I think). Even though they said itās on the lighter side, it was quite strong for me. Imo, great quality and reasonably priced. Taste-wise, itās similar to Paragonās, but Paragon gives 16oz for just a few cents more compared to Emeriās 12oz.
Iāll definitely be back to try the other two on the menu. Another highlight is their staff, so friendly and genuinely kind. They kept thanking everyone in line for waiting and for visiting the pop-up, over and over. Itās a small gesture, but it really made me feel appreciated and welcomed. A lot of cafes skip this when theyāre swamped during openings, which is understandable, but it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is for the cafĆ© itself, not the weekend matcha events. Every item Iāve tried has been exceptional; I havenāt had anything I didnāt truly enjoy. The tuna fish sandwich is hands-down the best Iāve ever had (get it grilled!). The olive oil cake is decadent. Today they had a choice of three soups (no one does that anymore!) and I got the mulligatawny, which was fantastic. There was also a pumpkin spice cookie that was delicious.
The space is cozy, quiet, clean, and comfortable, with friendly and fast service. Great value for money, too. Iāve been several times, and now that my office has moved closer, this cafĆ© will definitely be a regular part of my lunch rotation. An absolute hidden gem if you appreciate great food, great people, and supporting...
