2024 update, I added a star! The new owners doing some tweaking, butter chicken was pretty darn good kids, wings are really better, like in the bad old days with bun, nachos good - the small is plenty! bringing in events, live music. Keep up the live music, that's fun. Service suits me pretty good. Finding prices to be on the high side comparing other pubs with this vibe so - I'd love to see - better daily / happy hour specials - some fun beers and ciders on tap - dogs on the patio (hey I can walk here!) 2021 update. Pandemic got me desperate. No other pubs nearby. So we are becoming regular enough that the weekend day gal knows what we like. I like that. Food.. I’m picky. I see the nachos look amazing but not my thing. Chicken wings again it is. So I drink, I Keno. I engage in pleasant banter with the locals, and the server, when I can. I like her. She’s good at what she does...bit of a mind reader, friendly enough, and no nonsense. Boy it sure is nice to talk to, well, anybody really. I like the local living room atmosphere. It’s not fancy here but friendly. I wish I liked the food better. Deep fried battered wings - so alone on the plate you don’t even get celery and carrot sticks with them, everything on the menu is kinda brown and deep fried, straight from the freezer bag into the deep fryer is cheap and easy I guess. It's a comfy classic neighbourhood pub vibe, little shabby but clean enough. Meat draws Friday and Saturdays. This could be a good spot if the new management refreshed the menu, and added a couple local craft beers on tap. Til then it’s only good for Keno and a beer. *11/07/2017 spent $69 + tip - haven't returned since...maybe soon. Didn't see response from owner til now, is it under new mgmt? I really wish it would become a great destination...I can walk here...

Small pub nestled in a residential area next to the community centre. Minors are welcome until 8pm. We anticipated an old pub and all that comes with it, but were pleasantly surprised. It was clean, bright, spacious, there was a good variety of sports on the TVs, and wasn't too loud. The staff were super friendly and personable. The men's bathroom was even clean and smelt good! The Monte Cristo and the Reuben sandwiches were delicious. The fries were average, and the potato and ham soup was bland and too peppery. However their head chef had recently left with all his recipes, so they are starting from scratch. Our server was grateful for our tasting feedback. We saw the wings as we left (we considered them as they were on special for 60 cents each); they looked and smelt good with a moderate flour breading. So not recommended for gluten sensitive people. All in all a place I would gladly eat at again.

Awesome little local pub offering your favourite pub fare and friendly service. We just moved to the neighbourhood so we are excited to make this our go-to spot. We stopped in on Friday for their 75cent wing deal. They have sooo many flavours to choose from! We opted for the honey garlic, Caribbean jerk, hot and the suicide hot wings. They were all great! Good size, flavour and perfectly crispy. We will definitely be back to try the other flavours. We also ordered a side of the deep fried pickles which were tasty too. Our server (Claudia) was very friendly and took good care of us. She was warm and welcoming. So glad that this little gem is in the neighbourhood.

We tried.....

We give this pub a chance, and go once a year to see if there's any improvement. Every year we've been disappointed, especially with the food, but also with the tired looking interior and disinterested staff.

It had been almost two years since our last visit and we'd heard that new owners took over in the last year or so, but word on the street is that it hasn't changed. We decided to give it a try, in spite of what we'd heard.

The disappointment started when we walked in, it still looks the same. There were about 15-20 people there, spread across maybe a dozen tables, with one server behind the bar. We picked a table and sat down. It took the server about 5 minutes to come over with menus. I was tempted to go the to bar after a few minutes, but it wasn't busy and we wanted to see how long it took. 5 minutes is a long time to wait when you're sitting there looking at the server, who is behind the bar doing very little.

She eventually came and delivered menus, told us about a food special and then said that additional specials were listed on a board on the wall if we wanted to go read it. She left and I got up to read the board because it wasn't visible from our table.

Nothing on the board looked interesting to us so we picked some appies from the menu and a couple of drinks and then waited for the server to return to take our order.

15 minutes later.....she still hadn't returned. During that time we watched her visit a few tables, stand behind the bar and spend a lot of time out of view, in the back. At one point it looked like the cook was looking for her.

We waited a few more minutes, then got up and left. Over 20 minutes since we'd arrived and all we managed to get were menus.

My wife and I figured that we both would have ended up ordering a couple of drinks each and some food. So we would have spent $60 to $80, but after waiting so long for service we didn't want to spend a penny there.

It's a real shame. We live a 5 minute walk away and we would come regularly if the place was decent. A lot of our neighbours feel the same way. It needs to be shut down, given a complete overhaul and then opened again with an owner and staff (including a real cook) that care.

See you next year!...

I’ve lived in the neighbourhood for almost 30 years and remember this place when it was the Kangaroo pub. Unfortunately the service has gone way down and I know I’m not the only one who has experienced this recently. We went here today and ordered ā€œvegetarian nachosā€ and we were brought the beef nachos- both me and my partner said ā€œvegetarianā€ to the waitress when we were ordering so I’m not sure how this was missed? The waitress had an attitude about us saying something, and asked ā€œdo you want me to bring you a new plate?ā€ uh… duh! What do you think, we’re just gonna pick off the meat? Any place where the staff isn’t able to follow simple instructions puts the business at risk- what if we had an allergy and she served us an ingredient that is lethal to us? Totally unacceptable. Normally my partner and I enjoy giving a good tip, but for the first time ever we gave 0$ tip just because the waitress had an attitude about her error. Funny thing is we’ve ordered vegetarian nachos from here before and never had an error so I’m not sure why all of a sudden the waitress is surprised that we are asking for this option. Will not be going back here -best thing about this place was...
