A&W Canada — Restaurant in Vaughan

My friend went there for breakfast and was spoken to poorly when he had to wait over 10 minutes to get his food, making him late for work. He was busy helping a customer and I called to speak to manager while he was doing that, because he asked for their name while he was at the store this morning at around 7:30 am on August 17th 2024, my friend asked if the person working the woman which was a woman and she got so offended that he asked her that, she wouldn't let him get a word in when he wasn't trying to argue with her. She wouldn't stop she basically threw his change at him, and slammed the window closed in his face. Now is where I come in, I called and asked to speak to a manager and they told she wouldn't be in until Monday. I'm sorry your management wont be in until Monday that doesn't sound very professional. Then I asked if there was a supervisor and I was told no. Is the place being ran by a bunch of hooligans? I said that this was not professional at all and hung, my friend came up to me and asked if I could get the girls name that served him this morning and I was met with the same thing he has been telling me, you can contact the manager on Monday. I said I wanted the name so when he speaks to a manager that he would have her name, he told me that he didn't understand what I was saying and repeated myself at least 5 times. He proceeded to tell me that he was busy with a customer and that he could (which I understand I worked retail I get it but people on the phone are just as important). Until I pushed it out of him. I asked him to spell it for me and he just kept repeating it. I said clearly you don't understand, if my name was Sam, I would say it is spelt S-A-M and he hung up on me, which made me more aggravated than I already was. I called back and before I could say anything he said ma'am I'm with a customer I will call you back. I asked do you really think it is appropriate to hang up on customers like that and he said yes. Who does that I just wanted to speak about the experience my friend had and asked me to help him with because he was busy that the employee took out of per portion and it escalated to this. Always fresh! Love the food.

However, I ordered a combo. My burger was done incorrectly with my toppings. I had ate the onion rings and tried to pick out toppings out of the burger that I didn't order and try to do my best to eat it. Was very unsatisfied. I had gone back to the restaurant the person who took my order already knew the mistake and indicated there was a swap done with another customer as they had also come back. She had offered to make the burger again. But I had indicated since I ate the onion rings and tried my best with the incorrect burger I will take the offer to come back next week as I always visit the location. Today I had gone there, regretfully the person who served me wasn't there but another lady already recognized me and indicated she would be happy to make the burger. She had indicated was the onion rings and pop correct, to which I said yes. But I was under the impression that my whole meal was being replaced as I didn't enjoy it. The lady at the counter indicated fine I will go ahead and make the whole combo. I had forgotten my phone in the car, so I went to grab it and come back. The lady at the front said I will give the burger for free but you actually now have to pay for the onion rings. I thought this was so rude, a slap in your face for them to say one thing and when I come back to tell me they will charge for half the meal. I had indicated I didn't want anything and walked out. Probably won't be walking back in again to this location. I should have complained and asked for a full refund when my order was incorrect. I went on good faith that I can come back the following week to remedy the situation but only to be treated like homeless who wanted some free food. I don't think I would have actually even cared to even get compensated for the food or even cared it was wrong. It's an A&W inside of a Petro Canada gas station, how good did you think it was going to be? I am giving a 3 star rating because the attendants were polite and courteous and the staff that I came across seemed to put in a real effort to please the customers. I had ordered the papa burger combo with an A&W root beer of course. I mean you're at an A&W how can you not have a root beer? Lol The place is usually pretty quiet, they have a few tables but you're never to hard pressed to find one. This location also has a drive thru which is pretty good. I find that the drive thru is usually pretty busy, but the line moves fairly quickly. Also, I don't know about other A&W locations but this location is open 24/7 which is good if you are ever craving a latte night snack. One thing that I think is actually great and they actually do a good job with is their breakfast. They always make their breakfast fresh and made to order unlike most other fast food chains.
