I wish I could say it was better. I eat out a lot due to the hours I work and I just moved my business into this neighborhood, and I am always on the lookout for a new restaurant. The type that serves breakfast all day but also has an extensive menu of comfort foods, a typical family diner. Looking at the signage and menu I thought I had found just such a place. I was very disappointed. And I have to say that I have never done this before - gone online to offer a review. And certainly not a negative one (which reminds me - to be fair I should really now go and give some love to my regular places that are so good...really never thought of doing that!). Anyway, the food was cold (seriously, the side of cooked vegetables was actually cold, like the salad almost). I had their turkey special - warm, openface on bread, gravy, mashed potatoes etc (but no cranberries or stuffing, apparently not included and not an option, odd I thought). The turkey and gravy was ok, though a little overly salty. The Greek salad was very fresh and definitely the best part of the meal (how do you mess that up though?). The poor server was new, she admitted that. And she was really terrible - no confidence, only had me in the whole restaurant to take care of and had to scurry back each time I had a question (like what did the special include?). She's got a lot to learn, but she's trying. Definitely not a natural but I hope she sticks to it (elsewhere) and is successful, I even offered her some words of encouragement to that effect. Not easy working there under the owner. A blonde lady probably in her 50s, or close to it. Friendly-ish, but lacking in customer finesse (esp when things haven't gone right), this is the hospitality business after all, and that was not the vibe I felt when dealing with her. While she wasn't mean to the girl she was definitely critical of her mistakes and didn't try to hide that, and in front of me, the customer (correct her in private! Spare her dignity!). In my opinion the problem lies more with her - the owner and the restaurant, pricing and such not clear at all - how's the poor thing to get stuff right in a place like that? I could go on, but I don't have the time or energy to describe in detail the errors and back and forth over the order, the bill and so on. Was really quite comical. I'm tolerant to a fault and have often gone back to restaurants to give them a second chance when I'd told myself after the first time "never again" but this time I think I will stick to my resolve. Sorry Angelo's you just lost at least a twice a week...
Read moreFood was barely fine. Typical diner fare. I'm reviewing 1 star for what happened AFTER the meal. Waitress should NOT have stood out on the sidewalk to flag down my moving car to confront my daughter about a stain on a chair she claimed she'd made (she absolutely did not.) My daughter noticed a stain on the chair when she got up to leave and simply checked to see what it was and if any had gotten on her. Waitress actually STOPPED MY CAR by waving us down and when I rolled down the window to see what the emergency was she accused my daughter of leaving period blood on the seat!!! My daughter is 21 years old and was confused and quite shocked at the blatantly ignorant comment, but unfazed as she just figured the waitress must've seen her looking at the seat and decided she was responsible for what looked to be a very old and thoroughly dry stain (I have no idea if it was menstrual blood.) The waitress tried to act like she was just "being helpful" by informing my daughter that she had her period (right - because flagging down a car to shout that through the window in front of all the passengers is really the thoughtful way to handle that situation) but I believe she actually was just angry at having cleaned up what she believed to be a mess left behind by my daughter. Super tacky and totally obnoxious move. We WON'T...
Read moreDecided to go here for breakfast, what a mistake, asked for a table for one, was seated on the left side with a menu, 5 minutes after a young waitress took 4 people to the table in front of me and offered something to drink, 3 minutes after that the same lady that just gave me a menu sat a couple and asked them if they wanted coffee or something. Me? I was still waiting for that question over 15 mins after that the same lady that told me to sit where I was and gave me a menu asked me if somebody was helping me, I said not yet and she asked me like she just saw me if I wanted something to drink. I’m a 30 year old Dominican woman and I’m the Chef in a Italian restaurant. Tanned skin and curly hair. Yes I was the only color person in the restaurant I looked around to make sure, never felt racism in my entire life until I got to this place, I didn’t even thought that exist, but whoever the owner of this place is, let me tell you I wanted steak and eggs and I ended up leaving the place, nobody stopped me. Nobody gets to wait over 20 minutes to be asked if they want coffee. How come other people are asked right away and I was there siting like an idiot. My money is same as everybody’s, I was alone and this was a really unpleasent experience. I’m abosolutely not coming back and won’t recomend...
