Took my little guy into Baskin and Robbins yesterday with the rest of our family. Everyone was ordering their ice cream and my little guy was looking at the colourful ice cream cakes in the glass case.
He wasnât banging the case or trying to open it but he was touching it as he was super curious. I of course was trying to deter him but heâs also 3.5.
The owner came over and went to open the door so we moved back a bit to give him space and he then intercepted us and started to clean the case and was so exasperated about it. His whole point was to get in between us and the case. It was pretty obvious to us he was doing it because of my son even though it was already pretty printed by the army of kids that come in and out.
I let most things slide but this felt really insulting. When we left my stepmother indicated to him that what he did made us feel like we werenât welcome in the store. She explained her grandson (my son) is young but also autistic and he responded with I donât care, donât come back if you donât like it.
This is a business that is fueled by families with young children so my sonâs diagnosis aside, how is this a good customer experience?
Oh thatâs right, you donât care.
As you suggested, we wonât...
Read moreYesterday, I visited the Baskin Robbins location on Rutherford and Bathurst Street. I experienced the most rude and unpleasant customer service. One would expect a visit to an ice cream shop to be a fun and welcoming experience, but at this particular location, the young male employee exhibited a complete lack of knowledge and understanding on how to properly behave and treat customers with respect.
When I had purchased 20 gift cards, the employee angrily threw them at me when I asked for individual receipts. After I insisted on getting individual receipts, the employee repeatedly swiped the same card 20 times and then tossed all the receipts at me. I have never encountered such an unpleasant situation before.
I will definitely follow up with the franchise, as this behavior is completely unacceptable. If my young children had been there without me, I shudder to think how the employee would have treated them. This is very, very poor behavior and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would NOT recommend going to this particular Baskin...
Read moreBaskin Robbins as a whole carries good ice cream, there's not much to say about a franchise, especially if the products come directly from head office, there's not much variables that can go into evaluating the product itself. The people, however, can make or break whether I choose this location vs another location, even if it's further out. I believe I've been served by the franchise owner herself a few times, and if she's not the franchise owner, then she is someone of importance in making decisions as I've seen her discussing to a technician on the fridge operations before. If the hired staff is rude, I can somewhat overlook it, but if anyone above the supervisor level is rude, then I have no tolerance for it, and based on our past couple times visiting, we ought to be going to a different franchise...
