I recently had a deeply unsettling experience at a this restaurant, which I feel compelled to share to prevent others from facing the same treatment. My brother, who has a stutter, went to inquire about table availability. What should have been a straightforward interaction turned into a disheartening ordeal due to the staff's impatience and lack of empathy.
Upon asking if there was a table available, the waitress, who was evidently in a rush, bluntly dismissed him saying, "I don't have time to listen to you. I'm in a rush, and we don't have a table." This abrupt dismissal was not only shocking but also showed a glaring disregard for basic customer service principles. The waitress's behavior was particularly disappointing, considering my brother's need for a bit more time to express himself due to his stutter.
What's more troubling is the apparent lack of cultural sensitivity and understanding from the staff member, who, being from a different background, perhaps did not grasp the importance of patience and kindness in such interactions. However, this does not excuse the rudeness and unprofessionalism exhibited.
This experience left my brother feeling deeply disrespected and has had a negative impact on his well-being. It's unacceptable for any establishment to treat individuals this way, especially those requiring a bit more patience and understanding.
I cannot, in good faith, recommend this restaurant to anyone. The lack of basic decency and respect shown to my brother is indicative of a broader issue within the establishment concerning customer service and inclusivity. It's a shame that what could have been a simple, pleasant dining experience turned into a source of distress and disappointment. This restaurant clearly needs to reevaluate its staff training and prioritize kindness and respect in all customer interactions, regardless of the...
Read moreThis is my second time coming back since the pandemic + quarantine, though I've been here before that many many times. During my first visit since the lockdown, I noticed that they leave a box of disposable gloves at the second door of the entrance for customers to use. This time, the box was no longer there but they do place one at the racks where you can grab boxed + packaged items. For bagels, there's an employee that stays there to assist you so no customer grabs their own bagel anymore.
The store was quite busy this morning at 8:30 am. I mean, the dine-in area was quite as there was only one couple sitting in but the small area for grab n' go was buzzing! When I stepped into the shop, there were about 2-3 customers inside already. By the time I had gotten my bagel, I looked back to see another 2-3 people had come in after me. I appreciated that people were actually keeping their distance, which I find quite rare in this area.
Staff were quite efficient to accomodate the volume of people coming in + out. The employee that helped turn my rainbow bagel into a sandwich with lox + jalepeno cream cheese was clearly very new but I actually preferred this since it meant she had extra attention to detail. My problem with this location (or rather, most What a Bagels) is that I always end up with just regular cream cheese even though I've requested a flavored one because they always forget in a split second. Anyway, I was so happy to have gotten the right one this time!
As per usual, freshness isn't a problem with this store + their ingredients. Such a nice grab n'go breakfast that feels light + refreshing!

Read moreMy first walk-out-of restaurant experience...I could give 0 star if I could. Horrible service. My first time being in 'What a bagel store' i grabbed - few bags of cookies and breads went to the cashier which was EMPTY(no line up) BUT as I waited for this older cashier lady to cash me in and take order for a to-go sandwich, she just gives it a glance and in a few minutes started cashing in another lady who just walked up besides me as she mouths to me that 'she was here first' but I let it go. That takes another 5 min. So finally she starts cashing me in after and I ask for a juice and a bagel sandwich THEN she gets offended & take my bags of goods away and tells me that she needs to cancel everything and I need to go to the end of line to get the bagel order in. (By now there were more than 5 people waiting since she isn't the fasted cashier...) I asked her why she didn't tell me the same thing like 10 minutes ago before cashing out another person (who came after me) and she just keeps saying you need to go to the end and get my order in. The lady besides me and I just looked at each other's stunned faces. I did not want to deal with her or the store & I had to walk out for the first time in my life. The worst cashier and not at all organized order/serving system. Who'd thought when you walk into to the store, you go to the deep end of the store to get your order in instead of the cashier? (To be honest her English wasn't even good that I could argue the fact she's already mis-treated me and just killed my 15 minutes on a nice...
