Probably the strangest, rudest customer service I've ever encountered? Was here last Thursday afternoon on a rainy day, my friend and I grabbed the last available table and ordered drinks to stay. The rest of the tables were wet. We were grabbing napkins to wipe down the chairs, when an employee directed two people with food trays to our table. We overheard while we were bringing our drinks to the table, so mentioned that we were actually sitting there. The employee told us, "it's first come, first served. They ordered before you." We were confused, having never seen a sign or heard of a policy like that. When we said that we already had our drinks, she told us that "you only have drinks, they ordered food". I didn't know Aroma had a discrepancy amongst paying customers? We are also both heavily pregnant women in our final trimesters, lol. So we were even more confused as to why the employee started to apologize to the two people with the food trays, and had not once asked us to move, or helped us find any other solution (wiping down more tables, maybe?), besides implying that we should leave. (Still not sure why?) There was another table of two people seated without anything on their table, so we asked her, is it okay that they're seated already? They don't have anything on their table, but we have our drinks(according to her logic). She again told us that they ordered before us, and had ordered food, it's first come first served. And she continued on, telling us "no no no, listen--" in a really rude way. We were not arguing, but just asking her why we were not allowed to sit at a table as customers having already paid. So we left in the rain, as she continued to repeat that it is first come first served, and that we didn't order any food, in a raised voice towards my friend. Super bizarre... And our drinks were not good, sadly. If this a new policy at Aroma, where seating is first come first served and preferential treatment for customers who order food vs drinks... Wow! Never seen...
Read moreHad a great time with my friend Melanie at Aroma in Richmond Hill for a delicious salad! Kale, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, egg, feta cheese with lemon &olive oil and tahini dressing is my favorite salad!
The Aroma light was not how I remembered it and was watery and not thick. It was also very very sweet! I'm hoping they did give me the light but I obit had a few sips! I should have spoken to them about it for over $6 definitely not worth it and won't be getting again!
Unfortunately the washrooms were quite dirty and I had asked when I got there to please clean them. They promised that they would be!
After an hour chatting, eating and drinking lots of water I went into the washroom and nothing was done! What was more upsetting was when I spoke to the manager and mentioned how dirty the floors ( wet and stains), coffee on the door, toilet seat dirty( I never sit on them anyways but.....) his response was "we were busy"!!!!
I was now beyond upset! I said that is absolutely no excuse and he should never respond like that to a customer! I mentioned how we are paying a lot ( $25 for a drink and salad) and that they should keep their establishment clean! I told him I will be posting this and that I hope this doesn't Jalen again if I decide to comeback! It makes me wonder how they keep the kitchen space!
It's a luxury to go out these days because of the high increase of ingredients and I believe that the restaurants should keep them tidy and clean!
I had to post because I really hope others speak up too! The funny thing was they went straight into the bathrooms to clean after my threat to post and discussion with them! They were better but you can tell that they didn't scrub or use disinfectant! I'm going to definitely reach out to the owner!!
This is my lowest rating restaurant ever! I hope they put a schedule in the bathrooms and if they are "busy" to...
Read moreVisited on Aug 29/24 around 5:45PM for dine in dinner.
I'm very sad to have to write this review but it does need to be addressed in some form.
This was my first time eating at an Aroma and I ordered the Pumpkin Cauliflower Soup, side Caesar salad and a mango kale smoothie.
Moments after I took my first few bites I started to feel strange and went to ask the staff if Coconut Milk had been used in the Soup, or maybe in the smoothie.
One of the staff members went to the back to ask the chef, to which the chef replied no coconut milk was used in the soup - "it's vegan" was their response.
Then I proceeded to ask if coconut milk was used in the smoothie, which I was given a non-answer, "it's just mango and kale".
From my knowledge and from googling the menu, there were no traces of coconut in the soup but the mango kale smoothie has no indication what liquid binding agent was used in the drink - someone later suggested maybe coconut water. *For the record I am not aware of any other allergens to my system other than coconut, coconut milk, coconut water or even handling food that has been cross contaminated with coconut.
I was just extremely disappointed that my allergens didn't seem to be taken seriously by staff. I did have allergy medication on me but didn't want to take it as it causes me chest pains and I did have to drive home after dinner.
To Management: Please take food allergens seriously and train your staff to handle these questions in a more effective manner. Disney was or is being sued from a case in 2023 regarding a guest who passed away after ingesting food from a restaurant after being told the restaurant contained "allergy free food".
I will not be eating at an Aroma again as I'm not confident the staff fully know what is in their...
