We usually visit other sushi spots in Toronto but we gave this one a try since the other reviews seemed good. Boy was I wrong.
Based on my past All You Can Eat sushi experience this is the far worst experience ever. They advertise 150 items. But they don't have that many. Half the items are frozen items you would buy at a local grocery store like the calamari and just deep fried. You would rather half the number of items which are great quality vs just having items for the sake of it. They don't even have torched sushi on the menu for the price they charging. The ingredients are not fresh at all.
That being said when I usually go to AYCE sushi, an average number of order is about 20-30 person as we are ordering multiple items.
This time, as a group of 3 we only ordered 35 items. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:50 and paid for my order by 9:30. Not because I was full, because the food was just not eatable. Zero flavour, horrible presentation and the service especially. The servers drop the food off like you are eating in prison cell.
That being said, myself with a group of 2 ordered dishes. The food was honestly not what we expected to be. Yes we ordered multiple dishes, but that's because when I usually go to AYCE, these are items that usually taste great, for example a tempura shrimp a common Japanese dish is served with Tentsuyu sauce on the side. Here they did not provide that.
So honestly we could not eat the food. One of the servers came and yelled at our table in front of the whole restaurant saying "no finish extra charge"
What they should have asked is "how's the food" I was already disappointed at this point. And walked out after we paid for the bill. The server start screaming at us across the restaurant saying pay extra. Honestly $10 is not a lot, but it comes down to the principle. They started talking about poverty, but thats just their lies to pretend they care about the world. They just care about their bank account. If you really care about poverty, i would love to see what the restaurant does with all the money they make. I doubt they helping poverty with it. I told the employee the food was not great, she's like other people don't have a problem with it and that it's My fault for ordering a lot. And trust me I understand why they have an over ordering charge, but I would understand that if I sat at the restaurant for 2 hours. And had a lot of food left over after ordering multiple rounds. I was in their for 35 minutes and they know we did not order a lot.
She never once apologized, I complained about the pad thai, she said we aren't a Thai restaurant. Which I have on my phone recording, why sell a dish if you can't make it up to good standard.
Anyways the food has made myself and my guests sick and we have filed a formal complaint with York Regional Public Health at their Vaughan office at 9060 Jane St Vaughan, ON. Hopefully they investigate this restaurant and see what needs to be addressed in the correct legal action. I will be also taking this to other media platforms regarding this.
Overall stay away, there's so many great sushi spots in Toronto that provide better service and food. Take a 5-10 min drive down to weston and highway 7 to sparklys. Same price way better service, quality and...
Read moreWe like to try different AYCE sushi (but afraid most of the time of being disappointed), but we tried Sake because it's close to our home and we just received their flyer the other day.
Restaurant is on the smaller side and may feel cramped/intimate (depending on your preferences). Compared to other AYCE places, you might feel that the ambiance/spaciousness/decor isn't as nice.
We arrived at 6pm on a Tuesday night but the restaurant was already full (and few minutes after us, there was a steady line of 2-4 parties). Might want to make a reservation.
The service is very quick and efficient. Ordering is done on an iPad like most other restaurants--but you don't have to wait for a server to "submit" your selection, so that makes it much more rapid and smooth.
They had about 3-4 sushi chefs working away furiously, and 2 servers covering the service (2 additional people came to help with serving by 6:30). The food came very quickly as soon as the orders were submitted. Perhaps because there weren't that many tables, the order-production-serve process seemed very streamlined and efficient.
But the best part was how the food tasted. Let's be honest: you go to AYCE for quantity over quality, and as long as the food is edible and decently fresh, you're satisfied. But of all the AYCE places, I have to admit that food tasted best here (at least to me). They season their sushi rice little differently... Little more vinegar and maybe even slightly sweeter than other places, but it tastes amazing. The sashimi slices were fresh and thick. Many of the seasoning sauces and dressings seem hand-made (or modified from usual stock restaunt-supply bottles). The fried items were freshly fried. Of course we didn't try everything on the menu, but most of the items were so good that our family ordered them 2-3 times over the course of our meal. (and because the food was coming out so fast, we were fortunate/unfortunate to be able to wolf it down before our brains got the delayed signal from our stomachs to stop eating)
They had couple of unique dessert items (try the mango yogurt and tempura ice cream... Vanilla ice cream with chocolate drizzle with sprinkling of tempura crisps.) I usually go for green tea ice-cream, and Sake served a version that tasted more authentic than others.
Anyways, I rarely write reviews but I was so impressed that I decided to write this up. I highly recommend it based on what I consider "relative valuations". 1) did I feel I got my money's worth? 2) does it deliver a better value compared to other similar places? Sake answered both with a resounding "YES"! Hope you enjoy your meal as much as my family did!

Read moreOh boy, here we go. We made a reservation for a group of 6 people and a 6-month old infant who obviously can’t even eat solid food let alone a whole all you can eat sushi dinner. We ate, paid, and left. After looking over the bill later on we realized we were charged for 7 people instead of 6.
I called them to tell them the error. They told me to come back for a refund. (It’s a 40 minute round trip to go there and back home) I go back to the restaurant the next day with receipt in hand and they told me they don’t have their copy of the receipt so they tell me to come back tomorrow because their owner took the receipts home. Why is that my problem? Any other decent restaurant would not tell their customer to come back a second time especially after making an error on the bill the first time. They refused to refund our money no matter how much I tried to explain that I was told to come get a refund and made the trip to come get it. Now they don’t want to give it to me? Ridiculous. They also told me I will not be getting my tip back for the extra “person” they charged us for. The discussion started to get pretty heated and a line of customers waiting to pay started building up at the counter so at this point I left the restaurant very angry and told them I’ll be back tomorrow for the refund.
Another trip to the restaurant the next day I go in to get my refund. They have their copy of the receipt this time and refuse to look me in the eye. They shove the money into my hand and walked away. When I count what they gave me, I see they only gave me enough for the dinner and tax. They did not refund the tip we paid for the “extra person” they charged us for. When I questioned them about this they pointed at my bill and told me we didn’t tip enough to begin with.
OK, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! After screwing up our bill, then telling me to come back TWO TIMES to get my refund, they have the audacity to tell me that we didn’t tip enough and that they’re not giving the tip money back. At this point they didn’t deserve a tip at all. I kept arguing to refund my tip just for the extra plate and then they threw in a toonie to try to get rid of me. I wasn’t going to argue with them any longer over a few more dollars so I left. They told me not to come back. In total I drove 80 minutes back and forth to try to get my refund and they felt there was no issue with this.
Ugliest display of customer service I’ve ever experienced. Double check your bills people, especially if you’re with a large group. Better yet,...
