As a vegetarian, I'm always on the lookout for restaurants that cater to my dietary preferences without compromising on flavor and quality. The Tropical Island Caribbean Restaurant in Canada exceeded my expectations in every way, and I'm thrilled to share my exceptional experience with fellow vegetarians and foodies alike.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, who showed us to our table with a smile. The restaurant's decor was vibrant and colorful, with a tropical island theme that immediately put us in a festive mood. The atmosphere was lively, with a mix of reggae and Caribbean music playing in the background, which added to the overall ambiance.
A Vegetarian's Paradise
As a vegetarian, I was impressed by the variety of options available on the menu. The restaurant offers a range of vegetarian dishes, including vegan options, which are clearly marked on the menu. I opted for the Vegetable Curry, which was made with a variety of fresh vegetables, including bell peppers, onions, and potatoes, in a rich and flavorful curry sauce. The dish was served with a side of steamed rice and roti, which were both cooked to perfection.
Flavors and Presentation
The Vegetable Curry was a true delight, with a perfect balance of spices and flavors that complemented the freshness of the vegetables. The presentation was also impressive, with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro and a side of papadum that added a nice crunch to the dish.
Meat-Eater's Delight
I was accompanied by a meat-eater, who opted for the Jerk Chicken dish. They loved their food, and the portion was generous, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The jerk seasoning was flavorful and aromatic, and the dish was served with a side of steamed vegetables and rice.
Service and Value
The service at the Tropical Island Caribbean Restaurant was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who were happy to answer our questions and make recommendations. The value for money was also excellent, with generous portions and reasonable prices.

That said, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I used to love this spot and I spent a ton here because I lived five mins away. I’ve since moved, so I’m not here as much… but I was in the area a week ago so I decided to stop in to my old favourite restaurant. No one behind the counter (2 women) was friendly and the cashier was chatting away at the back while I waited and waited for her to come and ring me up. I ended up needing to ask them to ask her to come out, because after awhile, I knew I was going to be late getting back to work as my lunch break was ending.
I chalked the experience up to a one off, since this wasn’t my historical experience at this restaurant. I went back a couple of days ago to try again. I arrived to the restaurant 45 minutes before their closing time. They had already put away all of the food from behind the counter, and were unwilling to make me a plate. I asked for three different items, and the girl kept saying they were all out. It was clear she didn’t want to go to the effort of making a plate because she has already started clean up. I’m sorry but if that’s the case, then the restaurant should change their business hours. I didn’t arrive 5 mins before closing … I arrived almost an hour ahead of time to a restaurant that doesn’t even need to make the food fresh - it’s already prepared behind the counter. Disappointed by the service twice in a row. That, combined with the need to pay higher prices (I never finish a large price, so usually I’d get small), makes me think I need to find a...

It's a good place don't get me wrong but I feel like the chicken is a little too soft so I decided to put it in my broiler for some crunch and it only go softer not sure why if it's the quality of the meat or its because it's backed I usually like that plump fresh bounce o the chicken that contains its juices so I hope it gets better been going there for years and every management the chicken. Us all the same soft and softer that's why I don't go to many Chinese restaurants because of the meat quality is lower then other places you can't blame them. For wanting to make money but I see it in Carribean restaurants too for the most part that's why I'll buy their rice and go get meat l from somewhere else or cook it yourself but once you do cook. It yourself you'll know the difference and what I'm...
