🇨🇦 Victoria Food Review No.4 – A must-try dessert spot! 🍰

We came on a Sunday at around 12:30pm and saw the sign outside that said almost sold out. We ran in and unfortunately they didn't have many products left. Later on, we checked their Instagram and realized that they start selling out early in the day. If you want their goods, be sure to get there bright and early (before they even open) to guarantee you get all the goods that you want. We ended up getting 2 regular croissants, 2 pain au Chocolat and 2 of the hazelnut chocolate cookies. Both types of croissants were super buttery and flaky. The butter flavour was really strong which is exactly how I love my croissants. The outside was crispy and the lamination inside was perfect. The hazelnut chocolate cookies were my favorite. When we got them they were nice and hot but I wouldn't recommend eating they when they are hot as you lose the chewiness. Once cooled, omg, they are so chewy and addictive. Good amount of sweetness. Loved the additional crunch from the hazelnut. The cookie itself was also crunchy on the outside. Would definitely recommend Overall if you plan on coming to Goodside pastry. Come early and come ready to open your wallet because your going to want 1 of EVERYTHING. Definitely try there cookies and croissants

I ordered the miso leek danish, lychee-raspberry poppyseed croissant, and drip coffee. The miso leek danish was my favourite. One bite into the miso leek danish and I was brought to savoury pastry heaven! With both the danish and croissant, the fluffiness and layers were exceptional. I really enjoyed the poppyseeds and light sweet flavour in the croissant, but I found the specific lychee and raspberry flavours lacking. The flavour of the drip coffee was a bit harsh and probably not what customers line up for. I was the only customer who dined in to consume my pastry goodness for the hour that I spent there. If the owners would like more customers to dine in, they could consider offering more comfortable seating. This appears to be a local pastry shop where the staff are not only friendly and helpful, but also know their repeat customers. I will definitely be back!

Unreal experience. The service was amazing, cashier and baker we're incredibly charming. More important, oh baby, the goods. Got a matcha amaretti cookie which was packed separately in plastic (cool because it's GF so no contamination) but also the best amaretti I've had in a while. Chewy, tender, sweet without being annoying and matcha flavour without being too bitter. Chocolate croissant, you've had one I don't need to explain. It's a good chocolate croissant, I'd be happier if it was a Kouign Amann but it's damn tasty, and not too flaky with a great amount of moisture. Also a good balance, I hate when there's too much chocolate. The apple brioche was amazing. The apples were cut evenly yet very tiny which is a feat unto its own, well spiced, a good custard mixed in and the brioche was not too sweet. The brioche taking a backseat and letting that expertly ratioed filling really made it for me.

All in all, delightful experience, everything they have is moist, well ratioed, and not too sweet with an amazing staff. Will definitely be back next weekend at open to get a...
