5 Star Shawarma and Pizza (halal) — Restaurant in Waterloo

Update April 2023 (after 2 yrs): 1/5 chicken shawarma, wasted my $12 for large shawarma. My brother told me that they have been good in making shawarma so I should try, I shouldn't have listened to him, lol. So, what's wrong with people reviews and the cuisine which this place is selling under the name of "shawarma". Here are the few things and suggestions:

Chicken Shawarma Marination: Having Shawarma Grill Machine doesn't mean that every chicken stands on it comes out as " Shawarma ". Zero authentic marination of chicken shawarma, this is the insult of middle eastern food/snack, please call it anything but Shawarma!

Additional charges for Hummus in wrap: The authentic base sauces/dips of shawarma wrap includes hummus, but you'll be surprised to see that they charge you extra and consider hummus as an additional topping or dip/sauce. You heard me right, hummus is now counting as additional sauce in so called shawarma wrap! The only sauce you can have free is Mayo Garlic(which is not garlic sauce), and hot sauce (which is just the normal Sriracha type). They don't have tahini sauce, and tzatziki sauce also counts extra. Moreover, just imagine a shop selling shawarma and its platter suddenly out of hummus around 7:30pm friday night, how do they sell such items without hummus? Isn't it a complete cheating?

Shawarma Chicken or Crushed Minced Chicken: Why on God's green earth you guys crushed chicken till it becomes grounded/minced. How could you put that chicken in so called shawarma wrap? Chicken Shawarma cuts should be juicy julian style, atleast don't crush it like that!

Shawarma Wrap toppings: You can give a heart attack to middle eastern person easily. Please keep this in mind, Shawarma is NOT Gyro. Gyro is NOT Shawarma. Your wraps can be close to Gyros but its not even close the slightest to authentic Shawarma wraps! Please season your onion, you can't put raw onions in Shawarma wraps, season it with sumuc and cut very thin, please cut every topping thin and nice.

Use Saj/Markook bread if someone ordering Large so called Shawarma Wrap. Or use combination of pita+saj bread for large so when you pressed it down on pita grill pressor, it won't come out and crack the entire wrap.

I want you guys to give authentic flavor if you are selling Shawarma not just Chicken Wraps, then be honest with yourself and with customers.

3/5 #halal pizza. I had meaty pizza and shawarma pizza, customer service was up to the mark 💯 but the quality and taste wise, I didn't like this pizza at all. To much sauces on top to give the flavor to shawarma pizza. I guess most people like it that way, but itself ruin the taste. I tried without sauce portion, but still didn't like the flavor. I had many halal shawarma pizza before, but this one couldn't bring up any shawarma taste. Similarly for meat pizza, very dry toppings, no...

The slice may look typical...but obviously as the old phase goes, looks can be very deceiving. Biting into the pizza is the first introduction into something is very special, the pizza shell doesn't have the typical cardboard/drywall texture, *it actually has a consistency of dense but fluffy naan bread (I tried to compliment the staff the other day, but I think a language barrier just made it seem like an insult). Let's take another bite, there's something different, something out of the ordinary, chew it a bit more, move it around the tongue... Right!! It's the sauce!! It's not the basic open the typical pizza sauce...yes, it's homemade!! With spices and garlic added!! Very nice!! Now, let's nibble on the Pepperoni, something is different again, a bolder taste, less greasy...ohh it's Beef Pepperoni!! What a relief!! Pork is an unhealthy animal and protein to consume (for many various reasons, that I encourage others to do their own personal research on. *Just like Us, Swine also store their toxins in their fat, and what do we consume most of in the Pig??

Even though I haven't had their specialty Pizza yet, like The Butter Chicken Pizza or obviously the company name Pizza Shawarma, I certainly smelled it's lovely essence.

Updated this review as of Nov 11: I decided to give them another go this we wanted a pizza and didn't want to drive on the nasty roads. I ordered and showed up 5 minutes before just to make sure it was being done (it was). I thanked the guy for having it going and explained to him what had happened before while I was paying. He grabbed the boss and I told him what had happened. I will just say this. The boss really really cares about the customer experience. He made me feel really good about giving them another chance. I look forward to supporting them more! I will leave the original review included in this because it is important to have it there so that way if someone else has that type of experience, the boss can see that it has happened before with certain staff members.

Original review: I called while my wife and I were on our way home to order their shawarma pizza since I had read good things about it. They told us 20 minutes which was perfect. I show up and they had completely forgotten that I had ordered. Apparently the woman who took my call didn't write down a ticket or put it into their computer. They did offer to give us a free up size but we would have to wait an additional 10-15 minutes. My wife was not having that so we said no. They did offer us a free upsizing but I feel the pizza should have been free since we had called ahead and our order was forgotten. It wasn't like we were placing an advanced order or anything, just the 20 minutes before....
