GC Burger is a new burger spot that opened up in Kitchener/Waterloo and they serve great burgers and sandwiches. For their traditional burgers they utilize the smash patty which allows for a good sear and crust. I got the double classic burger because I’m a firm believer that a good burger requires simple and fresh ingredients, which they definitely used. It comes on a soft brioche bun which is my favourite bun on a burger and combos include fresh cut fries along with free drink refills. The service is great and they have indoor and outdoor seating which is a great option for those summer nights. I had a chance to speak with Muhammad who is one of the employees there and from our conversation I can tell this place is dedicated to their customers and improvement. I provided some feedback which I will also share here in my review:
Cost - While I’ve been to restaurants that charge much more than what I paid here for a burger with poutine combo, I will say it’s slightly on the higher side given the portions. From my observations it seems they use a 3oz patty which would equal 6oz on a double stacked burger. At $13 before taxes I think they should consider using a 4oz patty so that double options contain 8oz (or 1/2 lb of meat) which would be much more filling.
Food - If you decide to add beef bacon to the burger there is a $1.50 up charge which is reasonable however they only add one long slice across the burger. When giving feedback in person I suggested that 2 slices of bacon would be more ideal or cutting the piece of bacon in half to now have 2 slices fill the whole surface area of the patty allowing for every bite to have a combination of patty and bacon flavour. The only thing stopping my review here being flawless was the Cajun fries which I upgraded to a Cajun poutine. Before speaking with Muhammad and upon the first few bites, I suspected that they take their fries out of the fryer, add salt, and then add the Cajun seasoning on top. This paired with the poutine gravy was incredibly salty, and I have a very salty/savoury preference when it comes to food. Their Cajun seasoning without a doubt is a salt dominant seasoning which most seasoning blends are, and when paired with already salted fries straight out the fryer can be overpowering to the average person. I suggested to Muhammad that for the Cajun fries to only use Cajun seasoning and to trial with two testing batches – one with salt & seasoning and the other with just seasoning. I believe this would make a world of a difference.
All in all this spot is a great choice if you’re in the mood for a good burger and I’m looking forward to returning again to try their other options. I hope to see continuous growth and improvement from...
Read moreMarshall Eriksen once said, “Just a burger? It’s so much more than just a burger. I mean... that first bite—oh, what heaven that first bite is.” When I first watched that episode, I had a hard time understanding what that meant but GC Burger (308 King St N, Waterloo, ON N2L 3V2) made this quote very clear to me. An urban burger eatery with the charm of a classic burger joint, this place is now my go-to when I’m in Waterloo craving a halal burger.
I believe in trying a variety, so I ordered 3 different burgers. The GC Burger, the hallmark of this eatery, impressed me with its perfect balance of flavors. The buttered bun, toasted to golden perfection, cradled a juicy beef patty that was complemented by a melt-in-your-mouth slice of cheddar cheese. Crisp lettuce and ripe tomato added a refreshing crunch, while the signature GC Sauce, rich and tangy, tied everything together, making each bite an unforgettable experience.
The meal was made even better with the other 2 burgers. The Cheese Stack featured layers of cheddar cheese and a juicy beef patty, all brought together with fresh toppings and the signature GC Sauce for a satisfying bite, while the Crispy OG Fresh burger combined a perfectly seasoned, crispy buttermilk chicken with pickles and GC Sauce, creating a crunchy and flavorful experience. Paired with a side of truffle fries, each crispy bite was infused with the earthy richness of truffle oil, making them the perfect indulgent accompaniment to the meal.

Read moreI recently had the worst dining experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, it was clear things were off. There was no parking available, so we had to park far away and walk quite a distance. When we finally got to the restaurant, we were greeted by dirty tables. Despite this, we had no choice but to sit down, as we couldn’t easily return to our car.
The food was terrible, lacking any flavor or quality. To make matters worse, we couldn’t eat in peace due to the flies that kept swarming our table and landing on our food. It was absolutely disgusting. Throughout the meal, not a single staff member came to check on us or ask if we needed anything. The lack of attention to customers was shocking.
Overall, this was a horrible experience from start to finish. I will never return to this messy place. It was the first and last time for me. Avoid this restaurant...
