Laura Secord — Restaurant in Waterloo

What an absolutely horrible experience I had at this location this evening. I went with my family, and ordered two kiddie scoops and one single scoop in bowls. For each one, the young girl scooping the ice cream started scooping and weighing the scoops after putting them in the dish (without zeroing the scale to account for this dishes). They had never done this before when i have gone in the past. I have been a long time customer and this was always my favourite ice cream.

What go me that while scooping the first ice cream, she said it was under, then added more and then removed about half of what she added and put it back in the bucket in the freezer. I asked if this was a new procedure, to be weighing the scoops, to which she said yes. (How would they even do this if it was a cone). It was such a bad look to be putting ice cream from the customer's dish back into the ice cream bin. But I let it go.

Then came the second one. She scooped it, and then proceeded to say, oh that's extremely close. Then took about half a teaspoon worth of ice cream out from the dish and put it back into the freezer. It comes across so incredibly cheap. If you overscoop the ice cream by 5 gr, who csres, just give it to the customer. Then she even proceeded to tell me they are supposed to put less because she knows it looks better to add than to have to take some away. So clearly there needs to be better training going on here. She was clearly told not to be "subtracting" ice cream but was either not told clearly or took it uppon herself to put ice cream thay had already been scooped back. This must be a hewlth code violation.

She did a similar thing for the third, adding then subtracting then adding again and subtracting tiny bits of ice cream until she declared, "perfect". I was dumbfounded that this happened in real life. I wish I would have just walked away at that point, but I had already promised my toddler ice cream. I was so flustered I didn't even notice that she had forgotten to give us the signature chocolates on top. The whole experience was so disappointing that I don't think I would ever go back. I would surely not recommend this location to anyone. It feels like a huge ripoff and comes across as vety cheap for a store meant to be selling a...

We bought two chocolate spread bottle on Saturday (Sep 19). We open one jar and the smelled like old oil. We checked the expiry date and it was September 3rd. We went to return both bottles next day and explain to her that you are selling expired products. She told me we don't haverhave policy. That makes me mad. I told her if I call the health department, your store may close. When she sees me mad then she call her manager and she finally agreed to return. I absolutely love Laura Secord chocolates! I didn't love this store though. It was laid out ok and seemed clean and tidy. But the management needs to work on its scheduling and staffing. The poor girl working clearly didn't really know what she was doing, was overwhelmed with the traffic, and then the stupid debit machine went down. My heart went out to her. Improvements to staffing could drastically improve...
