Bugs in food!!! I took my mother to Momo Japanese noodles to introduce her how delicious Japanese noodles is but they served us noodles with bugs!!!! Bugs with many legs omg!!!!đđ At first I thought that was a black sesame but then I saw the tiny legs, it was swimming in my shoyu noodle đđI was so terrified. I picked it up and put it on the bowl(white bowl so the bug is even more clear to me). I called a lady and showed her the bug, she immediately took a paper and picked it up, I told her âplease donât do that leave it there so you can see clearâ but she didnât listen and Dodd it even quicker while squeezing it!! Then she opened the paper and said thatâs not a bugđ€„yeah that is one flat bug body you have đ Then she called two more person to have a look, welp why didnât you call them first? The lady also spoke with them using their language so I didnât understand what she said but Not surprisingly, they were arguing to me thatâs not a bug. Well⊠the bug was little and it was squeezed so hard so of course people canât tell. The chief boy was insisting this is a dust due to pan fried foodđ€ but I didnât order any pan fried food and this was a noodle đ how was that even make sense? I asked the lady, you picked it up from my noodle you served, if you believe this is absolutely no problem with it, eat it. Her face was like if I were ask her to eat a bug, yes, a bug! All I wanted was a sincere apology but they may have their concerns of admitting the bug, I donât know and I donât care anymore because I wonât go back in there anymore. And to people who is reviewing this, please always take pictures of bug before you call the waitress because they will wipe it up immediately and leave you no evidence to prove yourself. Have...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. My visit on Sunday at 12:30 was ruined by the disrespectful behavior of the server, which led us to walk out without ordering.
Despite there being only two other tables occupied, the server was incredibly rude. The restaurant uses an iPad ordering system, so the server wasnât even busy taking orders, and the tables that were occupied already had their food. When we requested chicken instead of seafood in one of the dishes, she dismissively stated, âthe chef wonât do that,â and continued to walk away while we were speaking. When she came back we asked for the same dish with just shrimp, and she begrudgingly agreed but with the caveat that they would only add one shrimp to compensate for the rest of the seafood. Furthermore, when I inquired about having the dish extra spicy, she chastised us for making too many modifications, treating us as if we were inconveniencing her.
The modifications we were inquiring about were not available to put on the iPad, which is why we were asking her, but she kept walking away as if we were bothering her and she was busy with other things. When I turned to look, she was just standing in the entrance of the kitchen doing nothing.
This level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is unacceptable and severely impacted our dining experience. The server's attitude was so appalling that we walked out without even ordering.
We won't be giving this place another chance, and we wouldn't recommend...
Read moreGood noodles, tasty broth, hit and miss portions, and average prices for ramen (~12-16). There aren't too many other options for proper ramen in Waterloo/Kitchener, and given the proximity to the university, it's no surprise to find Kenzo fairly busy during meal times. The place is pretty small, so expect to stand around awkwardly between tables, or simply outside the restaurant, if you happen to get stuck in line.
Ultimately, I haven't been blown away by the ramen here after visiting many times. It's generally good, with a few misses on some of the dishes- inconsistency is a bit of an issue here. Toppings can vary from one day to another, though the menu is the same. I really want to like Kenzo more as there aren't many other places in the area that come close to good ramen, but I struggle to give Kenzo a higher rating knowing it could be much better. Perhaps if the prices were more on the student friendly side, I could justify giving it another star. Still, if you're looking for ramen in Waterloo/Kitchener, Kenzo is probably your best bet... most days.
Kenzo also has an interesting take on karaage, which seems to have a slight curry flavour, with a house mayo sauce on the side. It's tasty, but don't expect your typical karaage if...
