I visited Popeye's Chicken on Westmount Road in Waterloo and had a disappointing experience. I asked the cashier if there were any specials for family meals. She pointed out the menu board displaying the 8-piece meal which I ordered. $32.99 + HST for 8 pieces of chicken, one large side & 4 biscuits . I was told it would be a 15 minute wait, so left and walked around the plaza. When I returned, they were busy attending to Uber drivers and said it would be another 5 minutes, which was closer to 10 minutes. During this time I saw the $40 deal offering 10 pieces of chicken and 2 sides and 5 biscuits for only $6.99 more + HST. I requested to switch my order---upgraded to the $40 deal. The cashier was adamant that it was already paid for and the order cannot be changed. I told her several times that I asked the lady working with her for the best deal. That lady quickly disappeared into the back of the restaurant to avoid me. Finally the cashier agreed to upgrade to the $40 meal, and struggled to figure out how to put the additional charge into the register. I guess for complaining, they decided to teach me a lesson they gave one small leg that had been cooked in fish oil. Not even edible. Also one oversized drumstick, bloody and raw at the bone. There were no breasts. All 10 pieces were put into one large box and 5 biscuits put in with the chicken. Never had that happen before. We would have liked to have eaten in the restaurant but unfortunately they only have one table which was monopolized by three young men that were already done eating when I placed my initial order. They showed no signs of leaving, so my daughter and I ate in the SUV. The thigh I ate had thick rubbery skin under the crispy exterior with flubber against the chicken itself, having to be spit out. The fries were made fresh but still seemed overly greasy. Unfortunately the 2 bad legs were chosen by my grandson at home. As it was late and they were closing, I was unable to address the issue with the 2 disgusting legs. Quality and service left much to be desired. Maybe time to google some good fried chicken recipes. Won't be throwing money away on disappointing take out...
Read moreThis location has the "daily specials", and today's was 3 pieces of chicken for about 6.49. I asked for 2 orders of 3 pieces, fries, and a medium drink. The total comes to about 20$. I was not offered a receipt. The cashier calls back "drop 12 pieces of spicy" the person in the back responds "12?" and she says "yes, 6 for serving 6 for sitting"
I pay, I wait almost half an hour for my food. When she calls me up, she tries to hand me only a 3 piece meal. I say no, I ordered 2 orders of 3. She insists that no, I did not. I tell her my total was 20$. I ordered 2x3 pieces plus a fries and a drink. She tells me that I did not. I confirm again that I did, and reiterate that it was 20$; 3 pieces + drink and fries isn't that much.
She practices ringing up a combo, saying that that's what I ordered. The total comes up to 10$. I tell her again, I paid 20$ for my meal, I'm 100% certain I ordered and paid for 6 pieces of chicken. She then shows me a random receipt she grabbed from the counter saying it was mine and that I only ordered 3. Then demands I pull up the proof of the transaction on my bank account.
I don't think that should even be allowed, but I did it. I show her the 20$ charge and she STILL insists that that's not what I ordered. I can see the 3 piece basket of chicken sitting there, waiting to be bagged. I tell her once again that it was in fact a 20$ purchase and that I am certain I ordered 2x3 pieces.
She then complains about only dropping 12 pieces of chicken. Finally she gives me the food after a good 5 minutes of arguing. It very much felt like she was intentionally trying to steal my food by not offering me a receipt or even keeping a...
Read moreWent in at 9:50ish on Monday evening. Google and signage says they close at 11pm. All fryers and cooking equipment was off. All I wanted to order was a mild 4 piece chicken platter and a spicy chicken sandwich. Was told they only had spicy chicken for the 4 piece. Also told after everything was processed that they wouldn’t have pickles for the sandwich (one of the only 2 toppings for the sandwich). Both meals being platters we asked for all sides to be fries which would result in 4 orders of fries and were only given 2 regular fries. No fast food place should stop cooking over an hour before close. Either update your hours to reflect when I can and can’t get food or hire staff who aren’t closing shop an hour early to get...
