I ordered two medium falafel wraps with custom toppings (spicy garlic, garlic sauce, lettuce, turnips, and pickles), leaving additional notes to cut them in half and make them well done. Having worked at Tahini’s as a part-timer during my student days, I understand the effort and care that goes into good food, and I wouldn’t have minded waiting 45 minutes if the result was worth it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
The wraps were a complete disappointment. They were both soggy and dry at the same time—a bizarre combination I didn’t think was possible. Despite requesting three sauces, none of them were in the wraps. The toppings were laughable: two tiny pieces each of pickles, turnips, and lettuce. As for the “well done” request, clearly, no one in the kitchen understands what that means.
To make matters worse, the store wasn’t even busy when I visited, so there’s no excuse for such poorly made wraps. For $25, I expected quality, not this careless effort. It’s frustrating to see the lack of attention to training and quality control—this isn’t the Tahini’s I remember. Save your money because throwing it in the gutter would give you the same value as this...
Read moreTahini is one of those ingredients that feels simple but adds incredible depth and richness to a wide variety of dishes. Made from ground sesame seeds, it has a creamy, smooth texture and a nutty, slightly bitter flavor that’s truly unique.
What I love most about tahini is its versatility — it’s essential in classics like hummus and baba ganoush, but it also shines in salad dressings, sauces, baked goods, and even desserts. A spoonful can instantly elevate a basic dish with a subtle, savory complexity. Good-quality tahini has a silky consistency and a well-balanced flavor without being overwhelmingly bitter.
The only downside is that some brands can be thicker, grainier, or overly bitter, so choosing a high-quality tahini makes a big difference. Once opened, it needs a good stir, as natural separation is common, but that’s a small price for the flavor payoff.
Overall, tahini is a pantry essential for anyone who loves Middle Eastern cuisine or just enjoys experimenting with bold,...
Read moreWent in to order take out. Facility is clean and bright. Only two workers on and uninterested in saying hello. We order 3 simple shawarma wraps with old school topping, two with extra sauces. When ordering the guy made us repeat 2-3 times, didn’t want to give us what we asked for for the brisket wrap (wanted old school and he wanted to do his own thing 🧐), it seemed we were bothering them. And they didn’t put the sandwiches in their cool boxes…no biggy but isn’t that part of their brand!? Once home the one wrap was fine but the brisket was labelled as chicken and therefore the toppings were swapped - brisket got my chicken toppings and my chicken got brisket toppings. And the taste, well it was okay, some flavour but not great flavour and meat is chewy. I’m so tired of paying for food that isn’t up to par and ITS WRONG! Like you had 3 wraps in front of you why is it sooo hard to get it right? Doubt we will...
