Free municipal parking is plentiful, free for 2 hours and free after 5pm and has a lot close by.
I would definitely recommend making reservations or if you're early as we were, get in at 5pm when they open, eat and leave.
It appears there is no wheelchair accessibility as the front entrance has stairs only. There is no patio.
The inside of the restaurant and washrooms were clean. I was surprised to see how small and cozy the inside of the restaurant was; it was very well decorated and has large garage type doors that opens facing King St. The music is fairly loud making conversation difficult at times. It's good rock music but could be a bit lower.
This is a great place to gather with friends to enjoy a large variety of drinks and typical bar, fried food with some vegetarian options.
This restaurant has no in-hand menus, rather you must scan a QR code at your table and view the menu this way.
Appetizers: ARUGULA & ARTICHOKE DIP absolutely delicious!! I would definitely recommend it!
CAULIFLOWER WINGS with Big Stooley's Mango Habanero sauce I would definitely NOT recommend because it was dripping in grease. We have this food in a lot of restaurants but this one, it appears the cook did not let the grease drip out before plating it. The sauce was very good; if you like very hot sauces you won't be disappointed with it.
Entrees: RABBIT POWER BOWL is something I ordered because it was vegetarian and not fried but had zero dressing taste; I don't know if it was forgotten or was just flavourless, either way I enjoyed it just the same because of the fresh vegetables.
JERK TOFU TACOS, was good. The tofu should be marinated in the jerk sauce as it was bland. The TACOS were flavorful due to the fresh veggies and cilantro. Anything that was fried was quite dark so it was either over cooked or the oil is too old and is need of a change.
JERK CHICKEN TACOS, was very well seasoned and tasty.
French Fries were crispy and well done.
It's important to note that the kitchen services both the White Rabbit and the adjacent/sister restaurant, the Hop House.
Our server was fantastic; friendly and attentive (we were the only people inside at the time but was quite full and busy by the time we left).
So the real question is, would we return? I'm happy we tried it out but being a vegetarian I don't think I would return mainly because there are very little healthy dishes here. It would be great to see a restaurant develop some different vegetarian/vegan options that are unique and have different flavor profiles. This is typical fried pub food, with a very impressive...
Read moreDrink selection here is good, and not that expensive compared to similar places in KW. The food menu is fairly vegetarian-friendly which is nice, but there's not a huge menu. The venue is cool, dark and intimate, with quite a bit of seating for such a small place, and the location downtown is central to many shops and other bars and clubs. The wait staff is friendly, and I even left a $15 tip or something. (I also overheard the waiter speaking to the dj kindly, which I thought was nice.) My issue is the security. I bought an empty White Rabbit drinking glass here because I liked the design, and as we were walking out with it, security stopped someone in my group. That's totally fair... they can't have people randomly walking out with the glasses lol. But it was very rude way he did it: he stopped us just as we exited the doors and told us we couldn't take the glass. We politely explained we paid for it. He said "no you didn't, you can't take that" and retreated inside to get another staff member. As he did that, a second security guard approached from the doors across the way to guard us and a third at the bottom of the steps started approaching. "No you didn't"??? The guy actively accused us stealing and lying before verifying anything. Possibly the rudest way to handle the situation. Of course when he came back out with the waiter who had served us, the young man looked at the glass, nodded, and security stepped aside and waved us away. No "sorry for the misunderstanding", no "my bad, just being cautious". Just accuse us of stealing and lying, then shoo us away when he was proven wrong. It was a really uncomfortable way to end an otherwise nice evening there. I know security can be a tough gig, but approaching situations like this from a place of aggression and accusation can escalate situations and alienate customers who've done nothing wrong. Knowing that I could be treated like this unexpected here, I'm not going to be returning,...
Read moreWe had a group of six and went to The White Rabbit on Saturday evening this week. Two restaurants in one location leads to confusion for reservations. We had made reservations for the The White Rabbit side of the restaurant earlier in the week and the restaurant put us on the The Hop side of the restaurant. When we explained they had made an error, we were told the other side was all booked up and there was nothing that could be done. The music was extremely loud, so it was not conducive to carrying on a conversation. We were seated in a booth and there was no place provided to hang our coats. So we had to keep them on our laps as their were six of us in the booth. I had the arugula beet salad with a short rib add on. The salad was okay but only had an ACVinegar dressing and the goat cheese was barely visible. The pulled short ribs were dry and overcooked. My friend had the salad as well with jerk chicken as an add on. She found the jerk chicken to be very fatty. Her salad was the same as mine. The other ladies ordered tacos. Three enjoyed them, one did not eat hers at all. So I guess it is hit and miss. I found it to be over priced for what you recieve. 15.00 for our salads and then 6.00 for the add on meat.. I would have been happy to pay that if the food met my expectations.
I think the White Rabbit side of the restaurant, and it's menu would have been a better fit for us. They do not share menus. The Hop side of the restaurant also does not serve coffee, not sure about the other, so no B52 coffee with dessert...
The Hop side of the restaurant is definitely for a younger crowd and they all seemed to be having a great time and it was busy... Just not for me... I may go back to try the White Rabbit side, just to be fair. ( I hope I got the names right...) I will post a review...
