They were great when they first opened about a year ago. Sadly, that has changed since going there recently. Braised beef was still as good as before, but they really cut down on portion size.
I was really disappointed with the deep fried squid tentacles. It's something that I go here for as well since its one of my favorite appetizers to order. It came out soggy with a mushy batter on the outside, looking quite a bit under cooked, and had a weird smell and texture to it. I refused to eat it and asked the server for something else instead. They took the dish and had the manager take a look, simply to tell me that they can't do anything about it. You'd expect that going to a restaurant that they would switch out your food should you feel like there is something genuinely wrong with it, especially with under cooked food (you certainly wouldn't expect a restaurant to do nothing about something like raw chicken). After a bit of back and forth, they did comp the dish, but the manager was unapologetic and seemed angry with the whole thing.
Nonetheless, the server in the middle of this stepped up and apologized about the whole experience and was understanding of the situation (unlike the "manager"). Not really sure if I'd come back to this place again, it was a...
Read moreThe service has made this place a must-avoid for me. I bought braised chicken noodles with extra pepper oil for one dollar extra. The container I received had about 5 ml of pepper oil in it and I thought this was a mistake so I asked the waiter if I could get another container. The waiter proceeded to wave three containers of the oil in my face and berate me about the price and amount of oil each serving gets. He insisted in very broken english that the price was 30 cents instead of the dollar I paid and that what I got is what I got. The whole situation was very unfortunate as I do believe the food here was good, but I no longer feel comfortable dining at this...
Read moreYang's is a place I frequently visit with friends. I like the braised beef and rice and tomato base rice noodle. They only give a few pieces of pepper with the braised beef, so it is lacking some vegetables, but the braised beef and shiitake mushrooms are quite flavourful. The unlimited, crossing the bridge rice noodle refill is always nice, especially when you're hungry, and it's great for the price. The normal rice noodle doesn't have refills, but the portion is large, and it comes with more content. The service is quick, but they only take cash or debit. You can also get a $20 membership for 10% every time at all...
