I recently visited Blue Star for the first time and was extremely disappointed with the overall experience. Cleanliness: When I arrived, the table was dirty and had garbage still on it. This immediately gave a bad impression of the restaurant's hygiene standards. I ordered a Diet Coke, and it came only halfway filled. Food Quality and Portions: I ordered a corned beef sandwich, which only had a few slices of meat on it. The portion was incredibly small, and there were barely any fries on the plate. They also forgot to give me gravy with my meal. When they finally brought more fries, the gravy was watery and had spilled all over the side of the container. Turkey Poutine : I also ordered a turkey poutine to go. Initially, they told me they were out of cheese curds and offered cheddar cheese instead. I declined, but then they came back saying they had found cheese curds after all. When the turkey poutine was brought to me wrapped up to go, I opened it to find there was no cheese on it at all. When they saw me looking at it, they took it and said they had mistakenly put cheddar cheese on it. I told them there was no cheese on it at all. They then asked if I still wanted it, and I declined...again. I felt they were hoping I wouldn't notice my order was incorrect, but regardless, it should have been checked before being served to me. Overall Value: To top it all off, the meal came to $20.00, which was absolutely not worth it given the poor service and food quality. Overall, I haven't left a restaurant without paying a tip in over ten years, but I feel that every aspect of my experience, from service to the kitchen, was not satisfactory. I left feeling extremely unsatisfied and disappointed. Blue Star needs to seriously improve its service and food quality.

Really enjoyed this restaurant! Food was delicious and they have a great selection. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but the inside will surprise you! Nice family-friendly atmosphere. Service could be slightly improved though. Our drinks never were refilled during our meal and our server was not overly friendly, but It wasn’t a big deal. I would really recommend it. My Polish heart was very happy with the Slavic dishes on the menu. Cabbage rolls melted in my mouth and homemade pierogi were very good. Borscht was excellent. You won’t be disappointed!

Food was great. The blue star is classic- but for breakfast I think over priced.(7.75 for a blt...not including home fries....) We had a big group of people (called a few days ahead to reserve) so I understand the waitress was probably a bit stressed... But she didn't supply water to the table and there was not enough coffee and or tea for everyone. She seemed very confused and scattered.

If you carefully read this review and others in google, you WILL NEVER VISIT this place. These people use any kind of fraud that they can and their food quality is terrible. Service is also terrible. Waitress is the ugliest addict old woman and the cashier is the fattest mean guy you will ever see in your life. We were on vacation and bought two Groupun coupons for 11 dollar each. We were supposed to get $40 food with these coupons. It was 2:30pm. We entered and sat, and no one showed up. after 7 min, i looked around and saw a big sign in entrance "we are now closed; we will be happy to serve you for dinner on main dining room". So, before we left, i went to the end of salon and saw that they have another salon on the other side (but the entrance was the same one that we entered)!!... so, we sat and ordered $35 food (+ tax = $40). When the waitress brought the bill, one of the items had been priced higher (first fraud); i asked the waitress to bring the menu and she brought another menu!! (second fraud) and i said "i need the original menu that you brought for us" and when i showed her the right price she said "oh, the price has changed". Then, I showed her my Groupon coupons. she said she could not accept them as they were just for dinner and just one coupon per table. I had not seen any of those fine printed hidden conditions and when i had a better look, i realized these fraud people had put more than 10 conditions so that someone like us ignore or misunderstand some of them and the owner could force them to fully pay for the food (3rd fraud). Anyways, i asked the cashier to at least accept one of our Groupun coupons. He refused and said "if i do this for you, i should do it for every one" (at that moment i realized there have been lots of victims like us). After a lot of haggling, the waitress (who was worried about her tip) said "i could re-calculate the food based on dinner price which is higher and we may accept one coupon" she calculated and $40 dollar bill became $48 dollar!! (4th fraud; so, that is why these coupons are just acceptable for dinner, or maybe she just increased prices to play with numbers and confuse me) . I said, no thanks, and paid $40 dollar and left. What a terrible people and food! One day before that, we had a fantastic lunch in "Mick & Angelo's Eatery and Bar" with Groupun coupon. When you compare these two, Blue Star is like expensive junk food served by terrible...

Disappointed with how they made my partner's pancake considering we paid a dollar extra for getting a breakfast item past noon. The pancake was undercooked. It shouldn't have gone out of the kitchen just by looking at it -- whitest pancake we've ever seen served 🧐 it was also wet and doughy inside indicating that the batter was not cooked well. Their home fries was the highlight as it was crispy on the outside and soft inside (tho we suspect it was a store bought and not made/cut at the restaurant as the cut was very uniformed like those you'd buy at the grocery in the frozen section). Ordered eggs Benedict as well, which was nothing special. Poached egg on a peameal bacon doused with hollandaise sauce. The sauce was thick and whether or not it was made from scratch is debatable (not that it was ever claimed on their menu anyway). Overall, it was ok. I'd give it 2.8 if I could just based on the undercooked pancake. Service was good. Only peeve was that we were asked multiple times how things were within 5 minutes. For example, we were asked how the food was 2 minutes after serving them and perhaps the server didn't take a second to really look to notice that we haven't had the chance to taste any of it. Then the same server came back at least 3 more times to ask the same question and all within 5 minutes. Typical bar atmosphere with jerseys hung on the wall and oddly enough a life size statue or wax figurine of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark and Iron Man. Family and big groups friendly as they have booths than can accomodate up to 4 people or 6 with kids and they are more than willing to put tables together to accomodate big groups (we saw many family gatherings at the time we went as it was during Mothers' Day weekend). Personally, it was alright for what it was that day. I'm pregnant and I was craving for breakfast items while driving through Welland. Considering many breakfast places in Welland closes early (2pm the latest), this was the only...

We have been to the blue star and the service has been touch and go. Today we went for Brunch in the back area, as the front is closed before noon. The waitress was newer as I haven't seen her before. She took our orders for our drinks and then went to take other orders for drinks as other people arrived after us. While at the other table she also took there food order. On her way back past us I wanted to place our food order but she said she will be right back with our drinks. Well about 20 min later another waitress comes by to ask if we have been served yet we said no and we are still waiting for our coffees! While taking our order our waitress comes back without our drinks and continues taking our food order from where the other waitress left off. We finally place our order and our coffee's arrive about 30 min since we got there. While waiting for our food another table sits down and there drinks are given within 2 min. The table that ordered there food before us even though they came later has gotten there drinks long ago and are served there food. To make matters worse, the table that just sat down and got there coffee within 2 min received there food about 10min after ordering. It is now 45 min since we arrived and the waitress say's yours is coming up. We tell her that we are running out of time as we only had an hour for lunch and to box the food and bring the bill. When I ask the waitress why the table that just sat down had there drinks and food within 10min she tells be that wraps take longer. Well the table that received there food in 10min ordered two hot wraps and one of our orders was a cold vegi wrap the other there reg breakfast!! Clearly that was bs and the place wasn't even that busy when we arrived. It got busy while we were waiting so there is no excuse for our delay in service. Needless to say we will not be coming back to the blue star as a similar event occurred awhile back and this just...
