Cafe Amalia — Restaurant in Welland

Finally dropped in after living in Welland for years, were welcomed by Amalia and family.

The cutest little place, and the owners are the sweetest couple you’ll ever meet. They’ve created this warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re right at home. They had customers sitting and enjoying food and drink inside, and I felt as if they might have been family or relatives, but after our own experience, now I’m not so sure.

Had incredible cappuccino and a couple scoops of gelato with the best service and charm ever. Originally ordered to go, but then ended up enjoying the patio outside.

Enjoyed our treats while Amalia and friend/family (?) were working outside on some plants.

Fell into a great conversation with Amalia who shared many things, from gardening, olive leaves and tea, making great coffee, Italy, tik tok and social media, as well as personal details about their history and the cafe over the decades. She’s wonderful.

I was a lost driver looking for an address. I was met by an extremely rude gentleman who spoke to me disrespectfully and pointed his finger at me. I explained I was a lost health care worker and he continued to be disrespectful and rude. I will never come to this place of business and will pass this story along. No compassion, no understanding, nothing nice to say at all. You know, when you’re lost and trying to find your way, it doesn’t feel safe or good to be met with such negative and closed minded people. Today I had the pleasure of having a lunch at Cafe Amalia . I was with some friends and we were offered sandwiches. Little did we know we would enjoy the best Italian sandwiches we’ve ever had! They were outstanding! The care we received was top notch. I felt as though I was at a friend or family’s home-Right down to the honey in the tea. Thank you Chuck and your beautiful wife.
