Mexican Taco Zone — Restaurant in Welland

Went this afternoon for a date with my girlfriend and it was AMAZING. We ordered 3 Birria Tacos each and a Chorizo Dorito Bag to share, along with some Jarritos to drink and I was thoroughly impressed.

The tacos were phenomenal all ingredients were fresh and the meat was cooked perfectly, it literally melted in our mouths. The birria sauce was AMAZING so savoury and a bit of sweetness to balance it out. We ordered medium spicy and it did not disappoint, im a huge spicy guy and the medium was a comfortable middle ground that wasn't overwhelming but still spicy enough for you to feel it.

The dorito bag was the best taco bag I've ever had in my life, we had it as mild spicy which was just that, mild. I will definitely get it at a medium or hot next time. The chorizo meat was divine, cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection, the lettuce, pico, and sauce was the perfect blend and exactly what the gold standard of basic toppings you would want.

The service and atmosphere were what you WANT out of an authentic Mexican food spot. A Mexican radio station played with a mix of marriachi, bando, and ranchera, decor was on point but not too over saturated that it felt comical, and the cooks were the nicest people ever, so polite and friendly overall a fantastic experience.

You know it's gonna be amazing when you can smell the food before you even get in the door.

First things first. Atmosphere was pretty nice. Walked in and they are in the process of winterizing the enclosure. So studs with insulation and 6 mil sheet plastic. Some may be turned off by this, but I was impressed. I could see how they constructed and supported the structure. I liked what I saw. Everything was framed nice. There was some very nice music being played. I would have appreciated it more,but I don't speak Spanish. Still i liked the music. Tables were clean eating area maintained. The fragrance of the food in the air made me hungrier than I already was. The service was impeccable. Seriously. I could not have asked for better. They are quote possibly the friendliest people I have ever met in the food service industry. Upon walking in I was greeted and made to feel welcome. The food came fast and hot. The spices were what I asked for hot, and if you are ever in question as to what you want... try the borito bowl. Such awesomeness contained in a bowl is mythical. I have been there 2 times previously and forgot to leave a review,but this time oh this time was just too damn good. The first two times I ate there I was very happy with everything. Wow - Mexican Taco Zone is where it's at! This is the first restaurant selling authentic Mexican food that I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed. More importantly, it was a culinary treat at, dare I say it, affordable prices.

We ordered platters of three tacos each as sharing platters, including the carnitas (my favorite), birrira, and the chorizo tex mex option. All of them were tasty but I would suggest ordering from the authentic Mexican options - they were next level. For me, the carnitas really excited my taste buds. Each bite featured mouth watering marinated pork balance with hints of cilantro, lime, and a nice amount of heat. We recently discovered the burrito and damn is it every good.

Love the food, the friendly staff, and the creative use of space. The covered eating area was festive and inviting. We will certainly be back. Would love it if your team expanded and opened a location in St Catharine's North end. I could see a crazy amount of potential, especially near the beach. There simply isn't a competitor offering this level of quality. Plus I have a vested interest 😉 because it would mean I could pop over for lunch every day.
