UPDATE - June 10, 2025 We heard restaurant was under New Management so decided to revisit and happy we did! Clean, pleasant atmosphere, great service and food was nicely prepared and tasty. Look forward to a return visit . *. *. *. *. *. * August 18, 2023 - We have been coming to Smitty’s in Wetaskiwin for the past 20+ years and atmosphere, friendly service and food was consistently good.

Today within 5 min. we clued in there were new managers/owners. Lacked friendly atmosphere, and food was very disappointing (Beef Dip Plate: beef was dry and crustly around edges (certainly not fresh) and bun was stale & hard) and Clubhouse was dry & skimpy (2 thin slices of turkey roll, flake of lettuce and slice of bacon .... no tomato or mayo, etc.) Other customers were also commenting on decline in food quality recently. No one came around to check on our meals.

Obviously they've been bought by new owners. The kitchen staff is now 80% or more diversity hires. Came in for breakfast on fathers day. 4 tables were occupied 2 servers, and still we stood for 18 minutes before being seated. 4 tables.. like not even remotely busy. The manager made eye contact with us several times but never stepped in to help. Much of the food has been changed for probably unapproved ingredients the hollandaise sauce was super different. We all noticed the food to be much different than previously. Apparently you only have the choice of strawberry jam at this location now? And one per customer only. What happened to peanut butter and raspberry jam? We were not checked on and not offered any discount or apology or otherwise for our experience here today. I love smittys but I won't be coming back to...

Well, after years of quality food and service from this fine establishment, it's gone to you know what. The old waitress must have been let go, (insert sad face) it's quite obvious. Meat Lover Skillet was frozen still, no joke, no melted cheese, basically from the freezer to the oven for a few minutes, if that. Pretty hard to mess up coffee, so it was alright, albeit, one cup...as long as the service lasted. Came back after a minute to offer more and never seen HIM again. I won't be back. A&W offers a champion breakfast across the street at half the price. 30 buck covered 2 coffee and a couple of eggs. So disappointed. Nothing is worth my dollar...
