Kelseys Original Roadhouse — Restaurant in Whitby

Overall we had a good time and will still leave 5 stars.

The food was delicious! Employees were nice.

At first we were annoyed to wait so long for burgers and I had to stand up to ask myself ‘how long more will our food be coming’. We were ready to leave. However, the person I asked took time to checked in the kitchen and apologized for the delay because we arrived just after a party event. I truly appreciated him giving an explanation. He also said maybe an additional 15 min (which is way too much in addition to our 40 min waiting time - 40min post order. I didn’t count the time when we arrived and were seated or when we got our drinks, of course). Anyway, the food arrived shortly after I asked but why our waiter that receives tips didn’t check in with us? We tried to make eye contact with him and clearly he knew very well we haven’t received our food because he looked at our table. Anyway. Communication is key for happy customer.

Area of improvements: Virgin mojito (one of the worst I have ever had in my entire dining experience). Waiter communication - would have prefer him mentioning to us that the food is coming because 40 min waiting time… the minimum he could have done. He chose to ignore and avoid us and only checked in after we received the meals. Which at this time we were happy back as we were starving. The restaurant was not full at all. He could manage talking to us.

The washrooms and restaurant were overall clean and provided good...

The service here is great fast friendly. I was here alone on business so it’s nice when it’s efficient. The atmosphere is very inviting. There were large groups here it’s close to the 401 and the hotel area so from the buses in the parking lot I would assume hockey teams or something. I watched the servers attending these groups very professional and proficient. Some times someone like me gets lost in chaos. This didn’t happen at all. The food was very good. I had the messy fish sandwich and a side of onion rings. It was cooked well and tasted fine. I dinged it a star just because I thought the side onions there could have been a few more and a little more tartar sauce on the sandwich. It wasn’t very messy LOL. As for beer they say ask the server for the local and they had a few and one of them was the bubble stash which technically is not local it’s original brew is from Hop Valley brewing out of Oregon but Creemore springs which is local is licensed to brew the recipe. It’s a great IPA. Anyway great place if your traveling and on the road or if your local and want a good...

So here is the goods folks. When we entered the establishment, we were seated almost immediately. Our server Bee was a shinning example of how to serve. We received our drunk orders promptly and she followed up with our food order, but not rushing us to do so. She also knew when to check in on us but not to bother us to much.

Now the food. I had a cheese steak and bacon hand held and my partner had the chicken fajita. Both meals where good, not great and my hand held I asked for certain topping to not be added, but they were anyways. Not a deal breaker but kitchen should have paid more attention to the order details. Beer selection is good, cold and for an after dinner drink Irish whiskey was available.

Over all I'd recommend if you in need of food and want to eat. If your looking for above and beyond food, unfortunately this location isn't it. Just my honest opinion as I always provide as I'm sure those who follow my reviews know by now. Let's see if things change the next time we are in town. Sorry folks no pics of this...
