We tried PJs for the first time two weeks ago and have since been back twice.

It was a blast to walk in and see an old diner-style counter and spin stools, bringing back nostalgic memories. Despite being a small spot, it gets quite busy. The restaurant only serves breakfast and lunch and closes at 2 pm.

Depending on your order, the plates usually come with generous portions. The staff appeared attentive and pleasant to interact with. The bathrooms are located at the back of the restaurant, down a flight of stairs.

Personally, my favorite dish here is the French toast.

Our only concern was that the bacon was extremely crispy. My son brought it up to the waitress, but she dismissed it, suggesting it might have been a bad batch.

Here are a few additional details: soda are not refillable. They don't offer V8 or any tomato juice. The pie is not homemade, but definitely worth trying. It gets quite busy during lunchtime, but it's worth a visit!!

Overall, our experience at PJs is that it's a piece of Durham's history. The food is usually good, the staff is friendly, and it's a great place to reconnect with old friends.

Update: We went back the following weekend and had the opportunity to chat with the owner and one of the main waitresses. PJs has become our new go-to breakfast spot. We highly recommend trying their French toast, Chicken Club Sandwich, and experiencing the incredible...

Highly recommend!!! I absolutely love this place. I have been going here for many many years. Fantastic food. The sausages are so good. Great size portions, custom orders or the basics. They have an all day special. Super friendly staff that will remember you. They are so good that I don't even say anything​, they remember my order exactly how I always have it. I even bring my own coffee mug so I can leave with a coffee and not take up a table waiting to finish it. They think it's great. And if I forget it I always get questioned lol. I love it!!! Excellent prices, casual diner atmosphere. Top notch service. I couldn't speak any more highly of this place and the ladies that work here. Hats off to you all and your hard work. PJ’s is where it’s at! I love coming here with my mom and dad ! The owners and cooks, they work hard in the back, making every dish incredible, and they always acknowledge us when we walk in, making you feel seen

The head waitress is one of my favorites—she gives off that cozy, vintage vibe, making you feel right at home.

Today, the bus guy reminded us of my mom’s cousin Vinny—super friendly and always up for a full conversation with customers about anything and everything. It was great to see!

Our waitress seemed new but was still warm and welcoming.
