Had breakfast this morning at the Brooklin location, was enjoying it until I bit into a slice of dark rye toast and it tasted off and overly sour. Upon discovering the toast showed green mold on the top of it, we brought it to the attention of the waitress who in turn went to discuss it with the head waitress.
We overheard the head waitress(Elaine) reply to our server that” it’s not mold, I’ve been serving it all morning!” a reply which she gave while pre-occupied at the cash register without having seen the slice of bread herself.
Elaine the head waitress came over to our table and was rude, aggressive and unapologetic even though it was evident that I was physically ill by it and wanted to throw up having an upset stomach from eating moldy bread.
When I pointed out to her that how could she be adding insult to injury by arguing with me, the customer, who not only had her meal ruined by spoilt food but also having to deal with rudeness from her as the managing waitress, was absurd! She informed me that she would argue endlessly with the customer, if she believes there was no mold. A belief she defends without even looking at my slice of bread and which then got thrown out?
When I asked her to inspect it herself she refused saying she wasn’t going to take it out of the garbage. One would think any reasonable employee of such a big chain would think to inspect the piece of bread in question first before tossing it and then arguing with the customer!
People like Elaine spoil the brand of Sunset Grill when they have absolutely no clue about customer service and should not be in the capacity of dealing with customers.
Her rudeness, belligerent behaviour by telling me to “leave and go vomit then”, has made it that I would not want to patronize this establishment again even though I have been patronizing Brooklin Sunset Grill for 18 years!
I would not recommend to anyone else to eat there if their policy is to attack the customer if they receive spoilt food and also as long as Elaine is not retrained or...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I invited my sister to meet me at the Oshawa location (she lives in Whitby and I in Oshawa) for the Crab Cake Benedict that I had their 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved! I remember asking the sever in Oshawa how long it would be in the menu and was told it would be on the menu for the entire summer, ending in September. when I got to the location they informed me the menu changed and it is no longer on the menu. As frustrated and disappointed as I was, I decided to call the Baldwin Whitby location. I specifically asked “does your location still have the Crab Cake Benedict” the server who answered the phone said “yes we do!” I said “I am on my way from another location that doesn’t have it, see you soon” When I got to the Baldwin location, I sat down and said I will be having the Crab Cake Benedict. Now, this server said “we don’t have that..” to my EXTREME surprise, I stated “that is not what I was informed when I called ahead” (we both drove back and forth from Oshawa to Whitby- 20 minutes) the server on the phone also confirmed she spoke to me on the phone and told me they had this meal. I asked to speak to the manager and he said “it’s not my fault the server was new and didn’t know they don’t have that item anymore......{what do you mean it’s not your fault????} he then continued to say “nothing I can do, I can give you maybe 10% off your meal” we obviously left very frustrated. I now understand why the staff was so uneducated- their seems to be a huge disconnect between the management, and staff. The lack of care and interest that the manager showed, was very reflective in his staff. Will never be going back to this location, and will be informing my family and friends about this...
Read moreWe attended this restaurant with our 3 kids (4,2 and 8mths). We had a single stroller with us as my 8th old is not quite old enough to be in a high chair but too big for his infant seat. When the hostess went to seat us, she realized we had a stroller with us and quickly said we would have to wait ad there was no where to place us that the stroller wouldn't be in the way? We stood at the door with our small kids looking at lots of empty tables with enough room to accommodate a small stroller but they wouldn't seat us. Finally I said I would just hold him on my lap and we were given a table. Once we were seated and realized how much room there was around our table I asked again if we could pull our stroller up to the table. The waitress (suzanne) said no immediately with lots of attitude. We then saw one of the really large tables open up so asked to be moved so we could use our stroller. The waitress left the table and about 5 min later returned and continued to be extremely rude telling us that it's a small restaurant and too busy to allow the stroller. Then she went aND threw down the cutlery and napkins on the new table and stormed off. My husband told her she was being rude and she just kept it up. I asked to speak with the owner and a man by the name of Felix came out. He was just as bad, totally emotionless and just said oh sorry I will talk to her? I will never go back to this place again, brooklin is a family friendly place but this restaurant is not. If you have small kids in strollers you will not be...
